For Western Michigan to to make the MAC tournament, assuming they'll lose to Akron on Saturday, they have to beat NIU tomorrow and NIU has to lose to Buffalo on Friday. But then Buffalo would get in if they beat Hartwick tomorrow, which that game will probably reschedule? It's going to be an interesting week.

This is complicated. With WMU's win over NIU today, there is a four way tie (3-2-1) for the last three MAC tournament spots. All four have a "win and you're in scenario", because two, WVU and Bowling Green have an elimination game if that happens. That's not likely to be an elimination game as that assumes WMU beats Akron. Buffalo is even still alive (2-3) because if they win their last two, they get in ahead of NIU (they play each other so it would be Buffalo 4-3 ahead of NIU 3-3-1) and either possibly WMU or the loser of WVU-BGSU. Bottom line, any 3-2-1 teams are in for sure if they win. In head to head matchups, WMU holds the tiebreaker over NIU, BGSU over WMU, NIU over WVU and WVU effectively over no one. WVU has a pretty good chance of missing the MAC tournament entirely. I can't even conceive of the scenarios right now if a bunch of these games end in ties and I can't find the MAC Men's soccer tiebreaking procedures. Well, we do know one thing - the Zips are the #1 seed and will host the conference tournament.

Remaining games of importance:

Wed: Buffalo at Hartwick

Fri: NIU at Buffalo

Sat: WVU at BGSU

Sat: WMU at Akron

Makes my head spin! Sure glad we simply took care of business well in advance and get to host the tourney yet again.

Would prefer to see NIU stay home. Do NOT like their style of play and do NOT want to lose anyone for our run to Alabama. I firmly believe we win it all in 2009 without the injuries to Nanchoff and Ampaipitakwong.

Pull any three names out of the hat and two of those become Victim 1 and Victim 2 on our road to the College Cup in early-December.

For the best possible MAC tournament, we need Hartwick to beat Buffalo, Buffalo to beat NIU, and WVU to beat BGSU. I believe this would send WMU, WVU, and BGSU to the MAC tournament. I'd rather see the teams with winning records make it. It looks bad on the MAC when losing teams make it.

Friday, November 2nd

Northern Illinois at Buffalo 6:00 PM winner makes the tournament

- If NIU beats Buffalo, NIU is in and Buffalo is out

- If Buffalo wins, NIU is out. WMU has tiebreaker with NIU.

Saturday, November 3rd

West Virginia at Bowling Green 7:00 PM winner makes the tournament

- if WVU beats BGSU, WVU is in, BGSU needs WMU to lose to make it. Although BGSU tied NIU, WMU has tiebreaker over NIU, and BGSU over WMU.

- if BGSU beats WVU, BGSU is in, WVU needs NIU and Akron to win?

Western Michigan at Akron 7:30 PM

- Akron is in regardless

- WMU loses, needs NIU to lose, needs BGSU to lose.

Sunday, November 4th

Hartwick at Florida Atlantic 4:00 PM

- both teams are out

WMU has tiebreaker over NIU,

BGSU has tiebreaker over WMU,

NIU has tiebreaker over WVU

Not sure if this is right. This is a big weekend for MAC teams.

will NIU be the #2 or #3 seed? Hopefully, UA would only see them in the mac finals

If Akron beats WMU, NIU can be no worse than the third seed, because either BGSU or WVU will have a loss or they will tie and both have a worse record than NIU, giving NIU the 2 seed. How embarrassing.

* BGSU clinches a tournament berth with a win or a tie against WVU;

* Even if BGSU loses to WVU, the Falcons clinch a tournament berth if WMU loses at Akron;

* Seven of the nine scenarios result in BGSU making the tournament;

* The only way BGSU does NOT make the tournament is if the Falcons lose to WVU AND Western Michigan beats or ties Akron.

Here are each of the nine possible outcomes on Saturday night, along with the W-L-T records of each of the four teams if such a scenario occurred, and BGSU's resulting tournament seed. Keep in mind that this is one SIDs interpretation, and there is the possibility that he made a mistake or two in the compilation of these scenarios. Without further ado, here we go...

BGSU WINS & WMU LOSES – BGSU 4-2-1, NIU 4-2-1, WMU 3-3-1, WVU 3-3-1 – BGSU ties for 2nd – BGSU is #2 seed by virtue of a win over WMU (NIU lost to WMU) – BGSU vs. NIU in semifinals

BGSU TIES & WMU LOSES – NIU 4-2-1, BGSU 3-2-2, WVU 3-2-2, WMU 3-3-1 – BGSU ties for 3rd – BGSU is #3 seed by virtue of a tie with NIU (NIU beat WVU) – BGSU vs. NIU in semifinals

BGSU LOSES & WMU LOSES – NIU 4-2-1, WVU 4-2-1, BGSU 3-3-1, WMU 3-3-1 – BGSU ties for 4th – BGSU is #4 seed by virtue of the win over WMU – BGSU vs. Akron in semifinals

BGSU WINS & WMU TIES – BGSU 4-2-1, NIU 4-2-1, WMU 3-2-2, WVU 3-3-1 – BGSU ties for 2nd – BGSU is #2 seed by virtue of the win over WMU (NIU lost to WMU) – BGSU vs. NIU in semifinals

BGSU TIES & WMU TIES – NIU 4-2-1, BGSU 3-2-2, WVU 3-2-2, WMU 3-2-2 – BGSU in 3-way tie for 3rd – BGSU is #3 seed by virtue of head-to-head record among the 3 teams involved in the tie (BGSU 1-0-1, WVU 0-0-2, WMU 0-1-1) – BGSU vs. NIU in semifinals

BGSU LOSES & WMU TIES – NIU 4-2-1, WVU 4-2-1, WMU 3-2-2, BGSU 3-3-1 – BGSU is 5th

BGSU WINS & WMU WINS – WMU 4-2-1, BGSU 4-2-1, NIU 4-2-1, WVU 3-3-1 – BGSU in 3-way tie for 2nd – BGSU is #2 seed by virtue of head-to-head record among the 3 teams involved in the tie (BGSU 1-0-1, WMU 1-1-0, NIU 0-1-1) – BGSU vs. WMU in semifinals

BGSU TIES & WMU WINS – WMU 4-2-1, NIU 4-2-1, BGSU 3-2-2, WVU 3-2-2 – BGSU ties for 4th – BGSU is #4 seed by virtue of the win over WMU (WVU tied WMU) – BGSU vs. Akron in semifinals

NIU must play better in the cold. At least Buffalo didn't make it, they only had 114 people at the match yesterday.

Florida Atlantic needs kicked out, they're dragging down everyone's SOS and RPI.

So its now set. Even though WMU deserved to be in the tournament as a better team in the league, I'm happy they're out because we seem to have trouble with them. So next Friday it's #3 WVU vs. #2 NIU at 4 and then #1 Akron vs. #4 BGSU. I think it sets up pretty well. Would much prefer WVU in the final than NIU assuming we get past BGSU. If the Zips do win the tournament they also set the all time NCAA record for a consecutive unbeaten streak in a conference. Also David Meves added to his already NCAA record for shutouts last night without even having to make a save. His record was noted here. They also note that the Zips have not been scored upon in over 1,000 minutes. I do believe this team has a legitimate chance to win it all this year. Their only loss (Notre Dame) was in a game they were dominating until going down a man and one of the ties (Creighton) that was a terrible call from being a win. If they do win it all, that means the senior class could have four sweet sixteen appearances, three national championship appearances and two titles. That would be pretty incredible.

but will the feed be any better then it has been which has been awful

Not going to lie, it's been incredibly frustrating lately. After all of last year and the first part of this year running smoothly, the feed as of late has been atrocious, if available at all. They always seem to be aware that there are issues, but no one takes any time outside of the game to figure out the problem. For instance, last week against WMU they had an entire pregame ceremony. Why not turn on the camera and make sure it's working during that rather than making people miss the first 15 minutes of the game while they swap out computers? Hell, you can test the camera on a hallway if necessary, it doesn't have to be at a game.
