ZachTheZip Posted November 23, 2012 Report Posted November 23, 2012 Buffalo and BGSU are playing in Columbus right now in Crew Stadium. I think it might be a good idea, if the right teams were involved. It's out of the way for both BG and Buffalo, though. It might work better if you had schools like Akron and vs Miami playing each other. Both sort-of along I-71 and seperated by Columbus. Quote
LZIp Posted November 23, 2012 Report Posted November 23, 2012 Remember hearing about this when it was announced last year. The main reasons this game is going on is that its the Friday after Thanksgiving (no OSU game to compete against) and I guess there is a solid alumni base for BG in Columbus. Quote
GP1 Posted November 23, 2012 Report Posted November 23, 2012 We just spent $64 million on a new stadium. Akron should never have a home game anywhere other than The Big Dialer. BG just spent millions on stadium renovations....why? Quote

GP1 Posted November 23, 2012 Report Posted November 23, 2012 And what if it was a Miami home game? I wouldn't care. Stupid idea for Miami, but they have a right to be stupid. Quote

ZachTheZip Posted November 23, 2012 Author Report Posted November 23, 2012 Attendance was 11,846. That's probably more people than were in Bowling Green this weekend. I think the Crew's average attendance is about 15k Quote
GP1 Posted November 23, 2012 Report Posted November 23, 2012 Attendance was 11,846. That's probably more people than were in Bowling Green this weekend. Maybe. Maybe not. Either way, it doesn't appear as if their stadium renovations or playing this game in Columbus was really worth it. The wrong message was sent all around. More athletic director stupidity. Quote

skip-zip Posted November 24, 2012 Report Posted November 24, 2012 Bowling Green is small. Akron is a large city. There might be a reason for them to do it, in order to draw from a much larger alumni population in a big city. There would be no reason for us to do it, that I can see. Quote
