Zip_ME87
I thought this deserved its own thread which we can use now and in the summer. U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team Qualifies for 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup with 4-2 Victory Against Canada After falling behind 1-0, the U.S. exploded for three goals in a 17-minute span to close out the first half. Luis Gil opened the scoring, and ussoccer.com Man of the Match Wil Trapp added one just before halftime. U.S. Soccer Development Academy product Jose Villarreal scored a pair of goals to increase his tournament total to three. ... The U.S. kept its foot on the pedal and added a third goal in first half stoppage time. Gil delivered a corner kick that goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau punched to the top of the area where Trapp lurked for a rebound. He ripped a full volley from 20 yards that deflected off Mauro Eustaquio and caromed past the helpless ‘keeper. I was afraid they might take the goal away from Wil, changing it to an own goal given that it deflected off a Canadian player, but they have not changed the scoring as of this time. Lineups: USA: 1-Cody Cropper; 2-Boyd Okwuonu, 4-Caleb Stanko (capt.), 5-Shane O’Neill, 3-Juan Pablo Ocegueda; 8-Benji Joya, 6-Wil Trapp; 9-Mario Rodriguez (19-Brandon Allen, 90+2), 10-Luis Gil (17-Danny Garcia, 77), 20-Daniel Cuevas; 7-Jose Villarreal (16-Dillon Serna, 84) It was great to see Dillon get into the action, too. He had a nice shot off the cross bar near the end of the 2nd half (before the stoppage time).

fknbuflobo
Thanks! Serna's attempt off the crossbar starts around 1:37. Serna's near miss: Notice the defender (correctly) forcing Serna to his right foot. He cracked it anyway!

fknbuflobo
http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soc...immage_aid28718 The Red team gained the lead minutes later when Morris edged out DeAndre Yedlin in a foot race after Omar Salgado hit a through ball down the left side. With Yedlin on the ground after tripping up in Morris’ feet, the Sounders attacker picked up his head and spotted Alfred Koroma wide open on the far post. Koroma made easy work of the finish, which gave the Red squad the lead at the break. Wow. I did not think that was humanly possible. There must be "mercury" in the Seattle water. Zip_ME87
Wow, maybe Fred is poised to have a "breakout year" (elsewhere) ... U.S. U20 MNT ends camp on high note Second-half substitute Alfred Koroma scored twice for the U.S. including the final tally in the last minute of the game. Dillon Serna, Benji Joya, Victor Pineda, and Danny Garcia also scored for the youth national team in the scrimmage. ... But the U20s scored three goals in the final three minutes to succinctly end the camp on a high note. Joya started the onslaught of tallies with an impressive curling effort from the top of the box to restore a two-goal advantage for the U20s. Koroma then setup former Akron teammate Serna for the fifth goal of the game. Koroma capped the day with a nifty flick at the near post off a cross from Joya for his second of the game and sixth for the U20s.

Ando
which is a shame. we're playing well otherwise; I think we had more of the ball in the first half, which is really something considering the competition using the high line is definitely playing with fire here, though

Ando
yeah the centerhalves were a little shambolic at times, and i dont think cropper really had a game to remember either in fairness, they were trying to defend kids who are pushing through to Madrid and Barcelona's A-teams. Deulofeu especially was a handful

Nobody should be shocked about the game yesterday. I'm pretty sure the school is Barcelona's youth academy. Maybe not shocked, Spain are the favorites, but thought the US could have played a better match and kept the scoreline down. When your in the group of death, goal differential could be the deciding factor if you make it out of the group or not. The US defense was caught to often sleeping and beat on counter attacks.
