akronzips71 Posted June 6, 2013 Report Posted June 6, 2013 http://www.ohio.com/news/plea-deal-talks-i...y-says-1.403759 They severed the two cases. As I predicted, the other guy gave him up. Other than the statement AA is alleged to have made, it seems like a weak case. Without the other guys statement, I don't know where they can go with this. No addressed to him, not present at the time. They better have a lot more than what they are saying. Quote
Dr Z Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 Another local athlete's name wasn't on the package. Sure are a lot of people being charged without their name on the package. At the very least, I learned what to do if a package gets delivered to my home. Edit: I suppose if you get caught with "jars" in your home, it won't help your case. Quote
LZIp Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 I wonder if AA and Perez had the same hookup. Quote
Dr Z Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 Looks as though Chris Perez's dog may be in trouble. Package addressed to him!?!? Perez and his wife, Melanie, had 5.7 ounces of pot sent to their home under the name “Brody Baum.” The couple’s dog name is Brody and Melanie’s maiden name is Baum. Crafty. Quote
ZZZips Posted June 10, 2013 Report Posted June 10, 2013 Alex to enter a plea this afternoon after reaching a plea agreement with the Summit County Prosecutor. Quote
K-Roo Posted June 10, 2013 Report Posted June 10, 2013 Pleads Guilty 2 yrs sentence. suspended 180 mos probation. Quote
akronzips71 Posted June 10, 2013 Report Posted June 10, 2013 Pleads Guilty 2 yrs sentence. suspended 180 mos probation. WOW. Took a Felony! Unusual for a first arrest. They must have really had something on him, AND wanted to make an example of him. I think we can assume he will not be at the point for UA any more. Quote
PB1719 Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 I think your assumption is a safe bet. That's 18 mos., not 180. Quote

akronzips71 Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 http://akronnewsnow.com/news/local/item/96...ation-violation I think they may have required a drug test, and if so, there is only ONE reason not to show up! I think he is done as a college BB player. Quote
Dave in Green Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 Well, there are other possible reasons. I hope it wasn't a drug test he missed, and I hope there was a legitimate reason for missing whatever test it was. Probation violations can send all the remorse and repentance expressed to the prosecutor and judge right down the toilet. In the absence of all the facts, I really want to give Abreu the benefit of the doubt. Quote
akronzips71 Posted July 19, 2013 Report Posted July 19, 2013 I don't know what tests Probation can order other than drug tests. They don't do eye tests or math tests. And you don't go to jail for missing them. Quote
WinZip Posted July 19, 2013 Report Posted July 19, 2013 He's writing himself off of this forum and board. I don't wanna hear about him anymore. As a fan I want something positive to cheer for. His time is done Quote
Dave in Green Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Anyone who doesn't want to think there's the slightest chance that Abreu might someday return to Zips basketball will be pleased with this headline: Abreu Officially Done at Akron Quote

Keep in mind, he was just recently sentenced to probation, which is a jail alternative, and he already violated. He is well down the path of self destruction. Quote
taxpayer Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 AA needs professional help. If you are close to AA, please direct him to a rehab center. He obviously needs it. For the legal counselors, can the court mandate a 30 to 60 day stay in such a facility? Quote
