Let's hope InfoCision can make good on those naming rights rights

Recommended Posts

Anyone who has know somebody who has worked at InfoCision would hear story after story about how sickening the management of that company was/is.

I know people who worked on salary who quit the company and didn't get paid their vacation pay when they left. Vacation pay is an earned benefit. Once it is earned, it must be paid regardless whether or not an employee quits. Nobody ever raised a stink because there were not many days earned and what they were owed would be far less than attorneys fees. Basically, the company was stealing from people because they could. Think of that in Lot 9.

Naming rights? The University had better hope InfoCision can stay in business long enough to pay them. Actually, maybe it would be best if they went under and we could wipe that stain off of the stadium and find a real company to sell naming rights to.

One of my biggest disappointments over the years in the University has been their relationship with InfoCision. Truly an act of desperation. It wasn't like it was not known how sleazy the ownership and management was. Everyone knew it and they still let those sleazeballs get their name all over the University. Shame on Dr. Proenza, et al.

Is it surprising that an organization that would hire Icoach would also take money from these scumbags?

I think the motivations are different.

The reason you take money from the dirty people at InfoCision is you are desperate for money for a new stadium.

The reason you hire Ianello is you are stupid.

I don't know which is worse, desperation or stupidity, but both result in decisions you typically don't want to make.

They were building the stadium my freshman year, so I appologize for not knowing much of the background of building/naming it...but what happened to Goodyear or Firestone or FirstMerit or Huntington, or hell even (as much as I don't like them) FirstEnergy. FE at least seems to be in the business of buying stadium naming rights...It really doesn't seem like they made a huge effort to find a namer.

Welcome to 2013.

People act like there aren't hundreds of other employers screwing their employees over every chance they get.

They're no worse than several of the employers I have worked for. Hell the last private ambulance I worked for was taking child support out of my check, but not paying the county. I got hauled into court twice. They were handing out fraudulent medical insurance cards, after taking the money out of people's checks. Failing to pay vacation pay after it was approved and the employee took the time off. Late pay checks. AND they were government contractors...

Getting paid vacation time after you leave a company? That's funny. I don't remember the last time that ever happened.

If you want a real witch hunt, I'll provide you with names.

Welcome to 2013.

There has been a tremendous change in the employment market since the Recession and even starting up before it.

I saw a statistic that a person graduating college this year will have around 15 jobs before that person retires. That number continues to go up as well. The days of working for one company for a career are over.

My business partner always tells me a saying his father had, "Employees are loyal. Companies are not." Many in this country have learned that lesson the hard way in recent years.

@Spin, I'm well aware that other companies have been reported to act in a manner that I personally believe ranges from unsavory to unethical to downright illegal, and I feel the same about all of them. The difference here is that this is directly connected with UA and Zips football. I think discussion of other companies doing similar things would fit more into the OT forum on ZN.o.

Names would be good. If you think they will give $$$ to the U, phone numbers would also be appreciated.

@pat, thanks for the link to the followup ABJ story. It's interesting to see that the Association of Fundraising Professionals has a code of ethics. There's always a temptation to push the envelope on various codes of ethics in the interest of generating more quick cash. There's no way for us to know how many of the charges from employees are accurate. I'm always a little skeptical when any company or any person is labeled all good or all bad. But some are certainly worse than others, and we're left to try to differentiate between them as best we can.

Specifically on the issue of fundraising for charitable organizations, it used to be done mostly by volunteers who sincerely believed in a cause. The rise of for-profit fundraising corporations with professional salespeople making a living off of charity has been a game changer. Some think it's for better and some think it's for worse. Questionable practices can ultimately lead to damaged reputations, lower credibility and reduced donations/profits in the long term.

I thought it was relevant to the topic, but whatever.
