ZachTheZip
How is it that the Browns don't have a kicker on the 53-man roster? How does that happen? Makes giving Phil Dawson the boot look even stupider. This is a level of mismanagement that is ridiculous even for Cleveland.

With what we've been dealing with for the past 14 years with the Browns, having the team not rely on a kicker to save them is better than kicking fieldgoals while the other team is scoring touchdowns. It would be interesting if they just eliminated kicker and punter. That's two more spots you could use to bolster talent at other positions. Even if they do sign a kicker, they won't have the luxury of relying on a FG from anywhere inside the 45 yard line in the most insane weather Lake Erie can throw at you. No matter who they sign, they won't be as good as Phil Dawson was in poor weather. What a dumb, dumb move to let him go.

The guys who wouldn't have a job are the ones who only are on the team to run down on kickoffs and punts. It would open up a lot of room for players who could contribute on a more regular basis and provide more value.
Spin
Phil Dawson didn't want to come back. They'll have a kicker on opening day. They just thought they could find one at least as good on the waiver wire.
LZIp
Billy Cundiff is a winner. Has been traded/cut/signed 13 times in his 11 year career.
Big Zip
One of those times was when he was a sub for the Dawson then was cut...went to the Ravens and was a Pro Bowler that season.
