Zipgrad01
HUGE get for coach Bowden and coach Amato! Posting this from a mobile connection, will update with more info later tonight. That is a huge get! These are the kids I am talking about when I say that we need to build our "base" from local players. This kid had offers from Illinois, Purdue, Cincy, Toledo, etc... I am not opposed to making SVSM our pipeline like OSU has or had with Glenville.
Zipgrad01
http://recruiting.scout.com/2/1353086.html Scout is saying that he only had offers from us and FAU. Either way...I dont care. Great get by Bowden and Amato. This kid is good.

Dave in Green
At 235 pounds he becomes the Zips' biggest linebacker ahead of C.J. Mizell (230). If he has speed to go with that weight, he could be a real force. The offers from Cincinnati, Illinois and Purdue listed on ESPN suggest he's not your typical MAC LB. The offer from Toledo took a hit on Friday.
Buckzip
Hopefully the LB's from Kenmore and Firestone that sat out this year get their grades in order and are on the team next season. We could be building a nice LB group.

We could be building a nice LB group. Were you paying the slightest bit of attention this year? We have a NICE LB group already, and NONE of them graduate. Although I expect some of these guys to perhaps get switched to DE, we are looking at a STELLAR LB group for years to come. It's a great time to be a Zip football fan

legendofzippy
Is this the type of commit that snowballs into a huge class? It could be.
ZachTheZip
Is this the type of commit that snowballs into a huge class? It could be. Nearly all of our commitments have come in bunches. The group from Beaver Falls, PA, the two DBs from Florida, and now Williams and Junius. With a little luck, we might see one or two more local prospects commit in the next few days. True snowball effects are rare in recruiting, though. PJ Fleck appears to have done it at WMU with the 2014 class though, so anything's possible.

I don't mean on timing so much, I just mean on kids wanting to play with someone like that. SVSM is arguably the top team in Ohio right now, regardless of division, and we just got two of their kids. This one in particular was a big get. So hopefully that propels more local kids to take Akron seriously. After some of the recent coaches we had, my understanding is that no local HS coach was recommending Akron to anyone. But the larger debate here... which is it? STVM or SVSM? There may be no more pressing issue.

I don't expect either to play their first year you need depth and future players too. Geesh.

Blue & Gold
Coach Bowden spoke at an event at my church last winter (March?). Before he spoke I was able to spend about 15-minutes with him. Very friendly guy. We talked about the incoming recruits and the current roster. He said then that he thought Jatavis Brown had a shot to play in the NFL. Jatavis is a bit undersized, but man, what a warrior.
