Located in Downtown Cleveland, WERE's 5,000-watt AM signal can be heard throughout Cuyahoga, Lorain, Lake, and Geauga Counties, putting Zips Athletics on the air where more than 15,000 UA alumni can hear the games. Mike Waddell returns for his fourth season as the television "Voice of the Zips". Also UA's Associate Athletics Director for External Relations, Waddell has an extensive broadcasting background, having called the play-by-play for 13 years at several schools, including The US Military Academy, The University of Virginia, The University of North Carolina and Appalachian State University. Joe Palmisano, former defensive coordinator for UA and head football coach at Malone College, will shift from the ZSN radio booth and will serve as the color analyst for ZSN television football broadcasts. Since leaving the sidelines Palmisano has launch a new medical sales company, Physicans Imaging Solutions, which markets MRI equipment and services nationwide. Dan Hughes, former head coach of the WNBA's Cleveland Rockers, will also be back as the color analyst for ZSN television basketball broadcasts. The 2001 WNBA Coach of the Year, Hughes was named the second head coach in Cleveland Rockers history on October 19, 1999. He joined the Rockers following a two-year association with the Charlotte Sting, where he was an assistant coach prior to being named interim head coach mid-way through the 1999 season. A native of Lowell, Ohio, Hughes has been involved in coaching basketball at almost every level in the Buckeye State. Prior to joining the Sting, he served as an assistant coach with the University of Toledo's women's basketball program (1996-97) and men's basketball program (1991-96). During his tenure with the Rockets' women's team, they posted a 27-4 record, winning the Mid-American Conference Championship, and made an NCAA Tournament appearance.
