tomzip
Worst zips team in a decade. This is absolutely painful to watch. I don't want anyone to say anything about talent. This team doesn't have much.Like I have been saying, always next year. I would like to see the 20 win streak continue, I think a win in the q to get it, but I am not sure they can win one there
Balsy
The streak is in serious jeopardy. On the positive side...at least we get to play the last three at home?
skip-zip
Miami wins it at the line. No, Akron losses it by playing about 30 min. of bad basketball out of a 40 min. game. We're a better team than they are, we just didn't play better.3 losses in a row. Wow.

gozips19
Masterful play designing. Wow.I'm guessing it was supposed to be a pass to Tree followed by a hand off to Q but was ruined by a bad pass followed by Q not running to Tree in the back court. Didn't get a chance to see the first half and a half. What has happened to Q???? Just plain bad the past two games. Hopefully the senior steps it up in the final home games. I found myself saying that. We all know that it comes down to what happens in Cleveland...but I can't take myself Seriously saying that. On a positive note: Lady Zips have moved to an 11-game winning streak, slamming the Redhawks 88-63. The Lady Zips look like serious contenders again this year, and should be exciting to watch out the stretch.Bobkittens lost to Buffalo (big surprise).Toledo is also struggling against the mighty Nothern Illinois Huskies...Can't wait for football at this point. After these last 3 games? It would be an unbelievable task. We have to find some way to make these 3 homes games work for us, and get into that #4 spot. If not? Very long odds to repeat as champs, even if we got totally healthy.

skip-zip
Tough shooting night for Q.And the toughest two shots might have been the 2 Technical FTs he missed in the first half when we were building a good lead. The whole game changed after that.
Big Zip
The worst part about all of this is this may be a look at the future...what do we have to look forward to next year? Same players a year older? This ride has been fun...but it might be over.
zen
I'll make an admission that might get me flamed;I have grown less concerned with how far the team will get in conference playoffs and more anxious about whether they will keep the streak of 20+ win seasons alive. Is this vanity over substance? The good news is, success in the former will result in the latter.
Balsy
To be completely honest there are a lot of takeaways as this year grinds to a haunt (or at least seemingly does). We are nothing without 3-point shooting...we need better PG play. However I will say I have seen drastic improvment in Melo from where he was at the begining of the year. Though, that's not saying much.If we can get Kretzer back this team stands a chance of running the table. Kretzer is by far the most reliable 3-point shooter on this team, IMO. Diggs needs to go take a long look in the mirror and evaluate if this is how he wants to go out; with barely scraping by at the end.Kretzer and Q are the keys to the next few games. skip-zip
Kretzer is by far the most reliable 3-point shooter on this team, IMO. That would be Reggie, hands down. Keith says it, and the statistics show it too. Now, that's not to say that Jake can't help us tremendously right now. And he can make 3's in bunches. But, he misses them in bunches too. Is this vanity over substance? I completely understand your point. That consecutive 20-win seasons stat is the measure of sustained success for this program, and certainly is a big part of the sales pitch to recruits every year. Ironically, playing several extra games this year in the MAC tourney against lower level teams is likely going to be the factor that gets us over 20 wins again. Of course, I really don't want to play those games. But, if we have to play them, we might as well use them to pad our win total.

Is this vanity over substance? The good news is, success in the former will result in the latter.I started a thread earlier in the year asking if this team would still win 20 games. To a man , everybody responded yes and some questioned why I would even be concerned with the thought. In a nutshell, the reason is that the streak is still a recruiting chip because kids prefer to win ballgames in contrast to going with a school that is consistently mediocre. Dave in Green
I was out last night and couldn't follow the game. When I got home and saw the results, I was sick to my stomach. I understood that Jake and Reggie were still out and Nick might be a little rusty. But the Zips still have enough talent to beat Miami if they play up to their talent level, and more importantly play together as a cohesive team. When your 2 leading scorers can't shoot and 2 of your next 3 leading scorers are out, you're in big trouble. Looking at the Miami and OU games together, Tree and Q were a combined 12-51 from the field while Deji was 10-16. Let that sink in. In the last 2 games Deji made 2 fewer field goals on 35 fewer attempts than Tree and Q combined! I'm getting nauseated just looking at those numbers.Since Nick's return didn't provide the spark needed to beat Miami, the Bowling Green game now becomes a question mark without Jake. Don't even think about Buffalo. I'm really starting to wonder now if Jake isn't the glue guy that holds this team together. In addition to his 3-point shooting, he also makes a lot of hustle moves that help get the team going when they need a boost. I just hope we hear good news about Jake's concussion being a really mild one and that all the symptoms disappear quickly. I think the Zips need him really badly right now. Zipgrad01
Offensively, we are just a horrible team with too many one trick ponies and zero creativity with scheme. The zero creativity with scheme has to do with the fact that we have a team full of one trick ponies. Our offense is rendered useless without Kretzer and McAdams because teams simply trap every post entry taking away our inside game (Treadwell, Forsythe and Big Dog) and forcing us to play outside in. We have zero 3 point shooters and nobody that can penetrate and create off the dribble. We have a good post player or two, but they have no chance with our 2 best 3 point shooters out of the lineup. Teams will continue to trap the post entries and we are screwed. The reason Deji has been the most successful is because he is the only guy right now that has consistently hit an outside shot and has shown the ability to take advantage of the double teams inside and take the ball to the rim. ZachTheZip
Before this season, when was the last year we had a PG (or primary ball handler) that didn't bring an attitude to the court?

The reason Deji has been the most successful is because he is the only guy right now that has consistently hit an outside shot and has shown the ability to take advantage of the double teams inside and take the ball to the rim.Your whole analysis was really good. But I especially liked this observation. For all the grief Deji has taken from some, he's kept working and working and working on his game. Here's a guy who had a shaky offense in HS and was best known as a shut-down defender. Right now his .370 3-point shooting percentage is second only to Reggie's .406, and Reggie's season is done. So for the rest of the season he's the Zips' best 3-point option! His .452 field goal percentage is 4th overall on the team. He's athletic enough to take it to the rim as well as nail the open 3. He's far from a complete player, but who on the Zips' roster is right now?

This question is open to anyone with an opinion.
