Quite the tournament atmosphere game. By far the largest crowd this season for the Ladies.

BUGS gets the win 77-76 in a game that was close through out. Neither team ever had a double

didgit lead.

Akron played without star Rachel Tecca. Rachel reportedly has leg issues. Still the girls took it to the

BUGS. You had to be proud of the way the Lady Zips played today. It should be a most interesting

time in Cleveland.

In a topic close to my heart: BUGS was the benifiary of several questionable calls and "no calls".

Check the stat sheet for some excellent proof. BUGS star Alexis Rogers, a six-one forward had

SEVEN steals and just two fouls. Alexis was given kid glove treatment the entire game. While she

is an excellent player, oversized forwards do not normaly pick the pockets of mite sized guards.

Well with this officating crew they did.

Late in the game with 20.6 seconds to play and Akron up by one, the Zips rebounded a shot under

the BUGS basket. The Zips player was promptly bear hugged and a held ball was called.

Possession BUGS. The crowd went nuts. A great "no call" if you were a BUGS fan.

BUGS coach roamed the court the entire game. I mean ON the court not unlike Buffalo's Coach

you make me Hurley. No "Tee", a couple of warnings. She worked the officials in their faces the

entire game. I suppose when you are the queens of the conference you are awarded such

niceities. My bad for complaining.

Great job Lady Zips. You were robbed (several times).

Well it wouldn't be an Akron thread if there weren't complaining about officiating.

Really wanted to make this game. I've enjoyed watching this group of seniors. Props to the Zips for a great effort without Tecca. Definitely think they can get them in the tourney. Should be an entertaining few days for both the men and women again!

Are you a Zips fan? I wonder. You were not at the game and lamely comment against two fans who saw the game.

This morning I read George Thomas' report on the game and he writes two paragraphs concerning the officiating.

George rarely writes about the officials. The calls were sufficiently bad that he wrote about them this time.

Unfortunately, life gets in the way of attending sporting events sometimes. GT rarely writing in his articles about officiating =/= GT rarely ever talking about officiating (twitter).

Have you ever been a ref? It isn't easy. You have to make split second decisions that can have a large impact on games. You seriously think they were out to get the Zips? Give me a break. I'm a big fan of accountability, something it seems a lot of people lack. Would the Lady Zips have lost if they wouldnt have fouled the 3pt shooter with 46 seconds left or even let the PG who did absolutely nothing the whole game drive the court and make the game winning lay up with a few seconds left? The answer is no. So people need to quit looking for excuses, admit defeat (albeit a great effort), and get ready for the tournament. I doubt Jodi Kest and the team are blaming the refs for the loss. She teaches them to have a higher standard.

Ah so the NCAA anti-akron conspiracy has spread to Women's Hoops. It was inevitable, as I've heard whispers of an upcoming "clock malfunction" in the next swim meet.

Did you watch the game?!

If you weren't there or didn't watch the stream, you have no room to talk about those officials. They weren't qualified to ref a rec league game.

Well Del Duco (who I assume was the head official) has officiated 44 games this season all over the country including a few Stanford games, Balster has done 17 games..seems like a MAC/Horizon league guy, and as of January 12th, Leggs had already done 12 games, with 3 of them including Louisville and Notre Dame. I'd say they are a little more qualified than rec league.

Look, I wouldn't even make a comment about the refs if there wasn't some form of complaining about them on here literally after 95% of the time after every game.
