Balsy
Great read. One quote in there I want to point out to everyone: "I didn't intend on ending my (head) coaching career as a loser and we plan on changing the losing culture," Bowden stated.I said it before so it may start sounding like me but I'll say it again...Bowden is hear to stay. Captain Kangaroo
I recall a similar quote from Ianello:"I intended on ending my (head) coaching career as a complete loser, and instilling a losing culture. And stuffing things in my pants." Ianello stated.
Dr Z
The three-game winning streak heightens Bowden's optimism for 2014. "We're heading in the right direction," he predicted. "The time is right now. No more waiting. We have a great urgency."That's what I want to hear. That's how I will judge the season.
K92
I am still pinching myself that we traded Ianello for Bowden. How incredibly fortunate are we?When Terry got here the Zips were the worst program in the country. Not one of the worst, THE WORST. The turnaround is already impressive and he has really just begun. I have thought about what he said at the VCU game so many times. "When i say winnin', I mean winnin'!" Good things are coming. I hope Balsy and ZipGrad01 are right and he is here to stay. skip-zip
I actually liked this quote the best...."We're lining up against good people that will get us ready for our conference," Bowden admitted.Leave it to a legendary coach to point out one of the many obvious reasons why playing good competition in the OOC is a benefit. May this finally lay to rest all debates about pursuing/avoiding a strong OOC schedule on both the football and basketball forums (yeah right).
