Balsy
So is that one of the "grey shirts" that TB talks about often times? I don't know the rules on grey shirts but I know it says "Prep School" on his recruiting this year.
ZachTheZip
Don't know if he's one of them, but I hope so. It can be difficult to find much information on these kind of players that sign a LOI and then sit out or never materialize.
Buckzip
This is like double dipping for Bowden. He counts guys that were verbals last year as grey shirts this year. I'm sure some guys he counts as commits this year will grey shirt and he will count them as new verbals next year.

I don't know the rules on grey shirts but I know it says "Prep School" on his recruiting this year. What is grey shirting?Grey shirting is a recruiting term that is not as commonly used as the term redshirting. A grey shirt is an incoming college freshman who postpones his enrollment in classes until the second term of his freshman year. This means they don’t take classes until the winter term. The NCAA allows college athletes five years to complete four years of eligibility after initial enrollment. When a grayshirt puts off his enrollment, he’s extending his eligibility past his senior year for another term. Grayshirting is most commonly used in football. By delaying enrollment until the winter after his senior year of high school, a football player can play the fall season one year after his graduation date. ... I also don't care about the number of recruits in a class. I do care if they're prepared for college and if they're good athletes. These greyshirts indicate that they're taking care of business academically before coming to play at Akron. I will go ahead and attach an "updated" roster...I won't post a final updated one until after signing day. I'm feeling rather comfortable where we're at. The roster has been vastly overhauled from the Ianello years. One thing that stands out to me is there are not actually that many juniors on the roster, a lot of seniors (from transfers over the past three seasons) and freshman, of whom Bowden and co have all been going. zipsoutsider
Washington State LB Darryl Monrore to transfer to AkronArticle is very poorly written.Found this and this on him.He graduated so he should be eligible to play this fall, I believe.

johnnyzip84
Hmmm another Wazzu linebacker transfers in (after Mizell). Hopefully, he and his family will be healthy this year and he can focus on football. He looks like a nice addition, especially with March and Mizell moving on.I know the staff has Colorado State connections that explain all the CSU transfers, but this must just be a coincidence. Hard to be too thrilled about this commit. No other offers and he isn't even on any recruiting sites. We still can't recruit high school talent from Ohio. Amazing. Not much if any press at all (but neither did my son). I wouldn't be to concerned about that ............... need that H-back if "Bowden ball" is morphing into a "Malzone Type" spread See if this link works :http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/joe-tupta/YVPjKvTuEeKZ5AAmVebBJg/default.htm

zipsoutsider
Again, those recruiting sites have little to do with talent, more to do with revenue for the recruiting site. They do poorly with kids from smaller schools.
Zipgrad01
Couldn't that have been said about several of our St. V commits/players as well?Yes. Several of them had no real offers. None of them have turned into superstars yet. We have a few decently rated Ohio players obviously, but there is no debating that we are struggling with Ohio high school recruiting. gozips19
with that height and weight I wouldn't be surprised if they are looking at him like a Cody Grice. Undersized DT with some speed.
