GJGood
Former Akron center fielder Devan Ahart was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 16th round of the Major League Baseball draft. He has since decided to forego his season season and sign with the Dodgers. LA has assigned him to one of their rookie league minor league teams. Devan is making his professional debut tonight in the season opener for the Ogden Raptors. He is starting and batting leadoff. As I type this he is currently 1 for 3 with a single, a run scored, and two stolen bases. That's not too shabby of a start.Although I am disappointed that he is no longer a Zip, I wish Devan all the best and hopefully he will represent the Zips program in the majors someday.

There's a fair amount of players that got drafted from the area.. Not sure why they can't be Zips in the future with some more success. P.S. I'm wholeheartedly disagreeing with you.
Staton14
I was wondering if he had signed or not. Thanks for the update!

Staton14
Devan has been starting nearly every day for Ogden and is hitting .304 with 4 doubles and 2 triples in 20 games so far. He also has 3 stolen bases...Good start to his professional career.
GJGood
After a three hit three RBI night on July 19, Devan Ahart is now batting .366 for Ogden with 12 RBI in his first 26 games. His OPS is .912, hopefully this is a god start to a long professional baseball career.
GJGood
Devan Ahart after batting .358 for the Ogden Raptors, the rookie league affiliate of the Dodgers, has officially been promoted to the single-A Great Lakes Loons. The Loons are in the Midwest League and play their home games in Midland, Michigan (not far from Mt. Pleasant). I have read some Dodgers minor league review articles that say Ahart may be having the best offensive season in the entire Dodgers minor league system. I find that very cool. Hopefully in a few years the Zips can oats one of their own gracing a major league diamond again.Congrats on the promotion Devan, and congrats on getting to go home (from Detroit). The two teams play each other one more series this year but its in Michigan, not Ohio. Anyways, Congrats Devan!
