zipproud
Today's scrimmage makes me nervous. KP16 did not play, TW13 struggled, very unsure in the pocket and tries to force a lot of passes. If KP16 gets hurt we are in trouble. NH15 didn't look bad and has great field presence. If he were healthy I would feel much better, but he seems to be hampered with an injury and doesn't have much mobility. CK18 looked good, but looks to be learning. They need to rush him along in case of injury to KP16. With NH15 questionable he may need to be called on. TW13 threw 2 interceptions and several passes that were broken up. We didn't mount a drive until the end of the scrimmage and finally TW13 threw a TD pass. Not knocking TW13, just don't think he's the guy. CK18 ended the scrimmage with a TD pass and that's was it for the offense. Hopefully our defense is that good. So far in the two scrimmages they seem to have dominated. Get healthy KP16!!!!!!Go ZIPS!!!!!!
LZIp
Keep in mind that Woodson is only a redshirt freshman. He is learning as well. The fact that he is what he is and is competing with Hirschman for a back up QB role tells me all I need to know about Hirschman. K92
Hirschman is still hobbled. Why oh why couldn't he have just walked off the field after throwing that TD pass vs. JMU?
skip-zip
Keep in mind that Woodson is only a redshirt freshman. He is learning as well. The fact that he is what he is and is competing with Hirschman for a back up QB role tells me all I need to know about Hirschman. Thanks for pointing this out. For a newbie, Woodson threw plenty of good balls today. His "zip" and relative accuracy were pretty impressive at times to those observing with me, despite a few mistakes and errant balls. And he did have a few that went right through people's hands, or he might have been more productive. In my opinion, the relative lack of offensive production all around was concerning. But, run blocking appears to possibly be the biggest culprit, along with the dropped balls. Improved execution is a must. With an expected solid defense, I'm hoping we can couple that with more of the performances like we saw against Michigan and Toledo from last year, and not from the UMass or Ken+ games. johnnyzip84
According to GT's report, KP16 was held out on purpose so the staff could evaluate the battle for the backup position.Pohl sat out the scrimmage so that the offensive staff can assess the battle for the backup quarterback spot between Woodson and Hirschman. It’s a bit surprising that Woodson, a 6-foot, 233-point redshirt freshman is in the mix, but he possesses a rocket for an arm and has a strong build.I suspect JC7 and CH34 may have been held out for similar reasons. Hopefully Brumbaugh gets healthy soon - I don't think he played in the 1st Saturday scrimmage (8/9) either.
Hilltopper
Brumbaugh's absence is clearly causing big problems on the O-line. I would wager that he is our best lineman. I don't know what his injury is, but we need him back soon.
