GP1
LinkThe mega churches around Summit County always struck me as a little strange at best and cult-like at their worst. Strange in not only with how large they are for being outside of the south, but cult-like for how they are able to manipulate the lives of otherwise intelligent people by not only making the church the spiritual center of a persons life, but also the social center of the persons life in a way that they are fearful of breaking from the social circle. The manipulation can be very interesting.

GP1
Education is the answer. Teach people to think for themselves. Competency testing is a must.It is frequently the case that very intelligent people get sucked into cults. I have to admit...I lived in Akron for 20 years and didn't know a single person who attended this nut farm in Cuyahoga Falls.
akronad
Before he had the nut farm in the Falls, in was in Springfield. At that time I worked for a restaurant, and on Friday nights after the service our store was packed. Was never able to buy into any of that. LZIp
Thanks for sharing. Interesting read. Guy definitely seems a little out there, but it ultimately comes down to people not being able to think for themselves, IMO.

Balsy
No matter how noble in principle, there's no human endeavor that's immune from perversion. It's not perversion if the endeavor itself exists to discourage critical thinking in order to control what people think.
