Zip_ME87
UCLA went on to win 2-1. I especially love #4 seed (#14 RPI) Maryland losing at home to UMBC. Selection Committee f'd up big time GIVING Maryland the 4 seed.

Zip_ME87
Unseeded UMBC defeated #13 Louisville 1-0 this evening to move into the Elite 8 at Creighton. Still can't be done by Ken Lolla even though it was done by Akron in 2010.

UAZipster0305
I was at the Georgetown-Syracuse game today. It is the first Tournament game I have seen live other than at Akron. Syracuse dominated but neither team was terribly dangerous in the final third, and neither team used the width of the field. Lots of choppy midfield play. The Georgetown facilities were nothing to speak of either. Overall, I was not impressed, but Coach Porter spoiled all of us. Let's hope Embick has us making deep runs in the Tournament again soon. Zip_ME87
By 11/17/2014 RPI (tourney seed), teams in Elite 8:#1 UCLA (2)#4 Providence (11)#5 Michigan State (3)#7 Georgetown (8)#9 Creighton (12)#13 Virginia (16)#20 North Carolina#50 UMBCThat 11 seed for Providence really stands out as a selection committee screw up. No way they should be playing at Michigan State for the Elite 8.
Z.I.P.
I was absolutely shocked by what happened in the NCAA Women's tournament over the weekend. I watched UCLA play twice this year, and they were the best women's team since at least the early 90's North Carolina outfits that featured Mia Hamm and several other future USWNT players. UCLA got knocked out of the tournament by Virginia 2-1. I would call that an historic upset -- and evidence of just how difficult it is to go undefeated and/or win an NCAA title. Tip my cap to the 2010 Zips!!

fknbuflobo
UMBC are Cinderella. But they do not play beautiful football. More long ball counter attack with punishing, very physical defense.
Zip_ME87
Extremely disappointing to see Virginia win the College Cup with that performance effort in the final. They played to get to PKs. It was awful to watch. So much for the "beautiful game". I also don't understand why the refs are so hesitant to give out red cards in the College Cup. An elbow in the face followed by a punch should have resulted in red cards for both players. I'd have loved to see both teams down to 10. Perhaps it would have livened it up a bit.
