Not worth a new thread, but it appears Hannah Luburgh's time playing overseas has come to an end.

It was a complicated situation. Here's what she said:

"My professional career has officially come to an end. No I didn't get fired & no I didn't quit.. circumstance changed…

The league that I compete in allows 3 Americans on the roster at one time. When I arrived in Poland we had 3. After a few months the PG got injured and left, and a new American player came. After the first of the year the injured guard game back along with the new guard they signed in her place which left us with 3 American guards and an American post player…. ONE player has to sit out every game.. and when you only play once ( & on rare occasions, twice) a week and a guard will have to sit out, it left me wondering how many games I would have left………………………

I met with my coach and we talked about the number of games I would sit out and unfortunately he didn't have a clear answer. It obviously depended on match ups of the opponent; however, it was certain I would sit out…

From my standpoint I came here to play, I came for the experience and what I didn't come for was to just money. For some, sitting out and getting paid may be great, but for me, It wasn't good enough. My coach understood my thoughts and I decided that I got what I came here for and I decided to terminate my contract.

I truly enjoyed the time I spent here. I met wonderful people and they will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart. I stepped out of my comfort zone, lived in a foreign country for 4.5 months and know that I can compete at the professional level ( averaged 10.7ppg, 4.5 reb) …. but, I have also realized that I have MUCH more ahead of me which doesn't include playing basketball anymore.

Though basketball will always be a part of who I am it is time I focus on my other career which is becoming a Physical Therapist. I have decided that I will attend the University of Findlay in the fall and join the DPT class of 2018. I am excited to finally make that decision and looking forward to what lies ahead. I am eager to spend the next 6 months with my family and friends and in August begin my next challenge.

Thank you all to all of my Polish friends I have met. You made the experience second to none. I truly enjoyed being in Lublin and working for this team. I wish all of you well and I will be cheering for the team from Ohio. BEE 4 LIFE

Thank you everyone at home for your support throughout this journey. Every comment and message helped me get through each day.

See you soon Zanesville"

Another good win for the ladies. Coach Kest is outstanding. I hope she stays.

You are right on target. Coach Kest is one knowledgeable and wise coach.

I had a chance to chat with her this morning after the Lady Zips defeated Western Michigan last night.

She took a risk in putting Kerri McMahan in the game in thefinal couple of minutes. Kerri has been a

dismal free throw shooter up to this time. WMU seized the chance and immediately fouled Kerri when

the Lady Zips inbounded the ball. Kerri had been shooting 45% on free throws. But, Coach Kest knew

that Kerri had been working diligently before/after practice to improve her free throw shooting.

If Kerri steps up and knocks down the free throws her confidence goes sky high and the Zips get a

three point lead. Kerri canned both opportunities. Zips win by three thanks in part to some excellent

shooting by Kerri.

Coach Kest has the confidence to take such risks. She is intelligent and loves her craft. Akron will find

it tougher and tougher to keep her.

Realize that WMU is a legitimate top 100 (RPI) team. That was a good win for the young Zips. Seventeen

and four with eight to play. At season start seventeen wins would be a tall order for such a young group.

Post season play is likely. The early signing of two quality players also bodes well for the coming seasons.

See you in the JAR.
