2015 Spring Football

Well Gent's, and you too Balsy, (just kidding), I'm I putting it on the line here. Either we go bowling in 2015 or I'm checking OUT after 28 years as Zips football fan. Nine months to determine my sentence. Thought I'd give everyone a consolation prize in case we go South.

Note to all: I checked out as a Tribe fan in 1994 after being a fan for 26 years as a Cleveland diehard (loved Pete Franklin and Joe Tate) - anyone remember 1995 (I admit I tuned in a little)? We may be on the verge of something big when I've finally drawn the line (good for Zips fans wherever you are - sound like Joe Tate's 7th inning stretch delivery?).

Never understood how you can just be 'done' as a team you are supposedly a fan of. Maybe lose interest over time, but not just quit.

I was a Browns fan until 1995. Never regretted being "done" with them for one second.

Well in your defense (not that you're looking for it), you were kind of forced to stop being a fan in 1995. I couldn't imagine going 20 yrs without a rooting interest professional football (assuming you didn't pick up another team).

I'm not out - just might ride on if Terry and the boys don't win. Might go fishin in the Keys who knows. I'm starting to lose interest (in all college football) and after all these years I need a big season here at Akron. I deserve it - we all deserve it. I'm all in this year.

Funny you write this. The discussions that were being aired on Cleveland sports radio when the Browns announced their move were so incredibly asinine that I totally wrote off the NFL forever. I won't get into it because it will destroy this thread, but I realized just how brain dead the average NFL fan is and worse than that how moronic the radio hosts were and what they were advocating at the time of the crisis.

Enough said.

It would be fun to make a thread about NFL fans in the off topic section, though.

Agreed. My last post on it because I don't want to derail any farther, but the bolded part was your first mistake haha. Cleveland sports radio/media is the worst.

My inside the program source says the coaches are in love with Chapman, it's his job to lose, tommy cant/wont stop eating and is about 30 lbs overweight. They aren't a fan of Kyle. He expects us to be VERY good this season. 9+ wins. Don't kill me just telling you what I was told

...battle got off to an interesting start wish senior Kyle Pohl and sophomore Tra'Von Chapman both showing some good things.

Thanks for the great insight there George. What is the ABJ now? A 16-year-old's essay that they wrote for class? Or is the ABJ trying to be Rick Grimes...

Now this was an okay article to read...but does anyone take this publication seriously anymore? What awfully lazy reporting.

I'll give credit to GT for a somewhat lengthy article. Few things I found interesting: No mention of Donnell Alexander. Pohl still the starter, and the offense supposedly isn't going over an overhaul.

Roster moves rarely happen in spring ball. Generally, the starting job goes to the incumbent in Spring ball and going into fall camp.

Glad to hear there is healthy competition with the RBs and that the D looks solid. The offense still has time to gel. Chapman will have to do better than "ok" to win the job. I don't see us having a solid sense of his potential before fall camp. I did like hearing Chapman scored going deep. That was fairly absent last year. Sounds like the D has the potential to be as good if not better than the D we had for the first half of 2014.

Just a note here. That article takes up about 2/3 of a page in the sports section today. I was floored. I can't remember ever seeing that in regards to Spring practice. Heck, it's more than I have ever seen for most games.
