mes102
Someone forwarded this to me and it's another great article on Darlington Nagbe along with some quotes from Porter, Klinsmann, and some words about Akron soccer program. nytimes.com/2015/11/29/sports/soccer/versatile-standout-finds-a-position-and-a-home-with-portland-timbers.html?ref=soccerIt would be nice to see Caleb Porter, Darlington Nagbe, Michael Nanchoff, Ben Zemanski, Will Trapp, Chad Barson, and Ben Speas at the game vs Creighton on Saturday the day prior to their MLS Cup match in Columbus. Akron could make it a big deal by recognizing them at halftime. It could be an incredible marketing tool to have members of both teams of the MLS Cup at the Elite Eight game in Akron of people that were PART of Akron. I'm sure they would love it and maybe that would make it a close sellout. However, I'm not sure if that would be legal for NCAA regulations these days and whether or not it would be logistical for them to take the trip to Akron the night prior to the biggest MLS match of their lives. Zip_ME87
I don't see those guys coming to Akron the night prior to MLS Cup. They're all professional unlike a certain QB of a local poorly managed American Football franchise.
fknbuflobo
It is likely many of the afore-mentioned will be watching the webstream of the Zips' match. But none will attend the match. Not even Ben Zemanski, who has no chance of playing in the MLS final, will attend. These men have a job to do. Part of that job is focusing on their business at hand. That concentration begins the day before the actual match, probably even earlier than that. There are other Zips in the pros out there. It would not be surprising to see one of them in attendance. Evan Bush? Saad Abdul-Salaam? Eric Stevenson?Scotty Caldwell, if you show up, I will buy your ticket! Seriously.

Seriously.I suspect those who are not on their teams' roster for MLS Cup may show up if they know in advance they won't be on the game day roster. Would be sweet. We'll see.On the Scotty Caldwell note, Scotty's dad, Larry, emailed me immediately following the Zips victory ... Go Zips. Great stuff. Elite 8! ... I love hearing from our former players and their families. Feels great to know they're still invested and watching. DeAndre's tweet about the Zips being on fire immediately following the goal barrage during the match vs Rutgers was awesome ... knowing he was watching the stream in New Castle England.Go Zips, wherever you are! Go Zips, wherever you are! It’s fantastic to see such enthusiasm and support from former players and their families, like Larry Caldwell and DeAndre. Their continued investment in the team’s success, even from afar, underscores the strong community and lasting connections formed. Go Zips indeed, and here's to more victories and shared moments
