THEFAN
According to sources schifino doesn't want to go to akron. He narrowed his choices to Can't state, washington, duquesne or middle tenn state. Since dials is coming he won't come even tough he has 1 year I think akron could've been good with him. They could've had a mac player of the year in schifino he avg 21 points in the big east, and scored 1000 in his 1st 2 seasons thats amazing in the big east. I think he would dominate in the mac, too bad he won't play here at akron. Akron made a huge mistake I think.
Captain Kangaroo
I have is on good authority that, unless something has changed in the last 24 hours, you are wrong. We shall see...that's why I stated 80-85% chance... Your rationale seems pretty weak too...because of Dials, he won't attend Akron? What...like there isn't a player like Dials at Can't or MTSU? I would think playing next to a guy like Dials would take away a lot of double teams from Drew. Drew going to Duquesne? The team he jilted to attend WVA 3 years ago? I doubt it. Hope he chooses Akron...he's a hell of a player. If he doesn't...we'll roll on.
Z.I.P.
Riddle me this fellahs, how are Schifino and Dials going to get on the floor at the same time? Is one of those guys going to play point guard? I dunno, maybe Nick, but tell me he's not a SG, with this 3-point shooting. I'm afraid there might not be enough balls to go around. Further question: Could Schifino be eligible in 04-05? How many games did he play last season before quitting? Ahhhhh..."quitting". That's a big word for ya. What makes anyone think he has it inside himself to make such a commitment? I wouldn't give up a scholarship for the guy that could go to any big-time HS prospect (like St.V's Wilson, or the big guy from Walsh), unless his "one shot" is in 04-05. Riddle me asleep! Tough call. Drew is a hell of a player...but the bitter taste of Tarver still lingers. Roll the dice on him? I would hope Dambrot asks him some serious questions regarding his goals and expectations before signing him on. If he's all about scoring 30 points...and not about winning a MAC championship and making the players around him better...then I agree with some of the others in wishing him well at another school and using the scholarship on a Fr. we can build on. Big Zip
I don't expect Dambrodt to tell me yes Schifino is coming, but when I asked him exactly that last Friday -- he told me they don't have any scholarships for him. He also pointed out they thought it was a better choice to get a player for three years as opposed to one. 85% or not -- if we're going on what Dambrodt told me last Friday -- I'd put the chances at 5%. I think he's pretty happy with his team next year.

If you add Goddard (assuming he's scholarship) and Dials, it would appear there are still 1 or 2 "free" scholarships remaining? Also...you can pretty much bank on someone not making grades or transferring every season. We'll see what happens...I'm still in shock that Bryan Hipsher didn't transfer to an ACC school or enter the NBA draft. Will he play the #5 or #4 spot at Capital? Guest Guest
Good, I would rather use the scholarship on a young stud. Good luck to Schifino.
