sgm405 Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Is anyone else worried about the way Getsy has looked so far this season? Aside from the two big drives last week, he's look shaky for the most part, and his season stats are less than impressive:59 of 119, 50 CMP%, 4 TD, 5 INTIs it because they've played good defenses, or should we be worried about the QB? bobbyake Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 was Getsy really that good last year, or was he helped out by a really good receiver????? Quote
sgm405 Posted September 16, 2006 Author Report Posted September 16, 2006 was Getsy really that good last year, or was he helped out by a really good receiver????? Very interesting thought...thoughts on this, or the previous question? Quote
zff Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 On the INT in the endzone he had the back on the swing pass wide open. But instead he forced it into a WR he never looked off of. Quote
sgm405 Posted September 16, 2006 Author Report Posted September 16, 2006 He also missed an open receiver on 4th and goal towards the end...obviously those two plays made a huge difference. I find it interesting that so many people have looked at this thread and skipped over it. Non-issue? Avoiding the issue? Which is it? Quote
Buckzip Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 He was living off od his press clippings going into this season. Som e were saying he played against defenses. Every team does not have a great defense. Quote
zipsbandman Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Actually I'm pretty concerned. Look how bad he was middle of last season. Could the old Getsy be back? Quote
Buckzip Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Getsy, like most of the offense, is way underperforming. This is up to the coach to get them back playing well. Quote
RACER Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 this is a guy who led us to the mac championship. the problem is we were stopped near the goal line, and then jd went for it on 4th down.luke can not block or run the ball. Quote
Zip N' Dots Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Getsy is a good quarterback who tries to make too much happen with his arm. When he takes what he is given he looks great! But against Penn St and CMU he forced too many passes and missed some wide open passes. When he relaxes and takes what is given I will take him over any QB in the MAC! Quote
Ryno aka Menace Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 I am not going to write him off just yet not everyone plays well day in day out if he did he would be at USC, OSU, Michigan, etc. You gotta work with what ya got, and coach him up. Remember guys this receiving group as a whole is very young, we don't know if they are running the right routes, Getsy could see man and the receivers see a tight zone and that could change the route. As far as not looking off receivers, I think he tends to get to comfortable when a certain receiver gets hot. I am still waiting for Arthur's break out game...in fact I just want him to have a decent game. And we all know the o line in inconsistent, I think with all those issues we shouldn't be quick to jump on his back. RACER Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 rushing yards (31-61) says it all.how much did it hurt not having kennedy when we had the ball down on the goal line? all i know is harvey is amazing. i cannot believe the guy is a freshman. the guy makes it look so easy. Quote
liljc Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 No, I am not worried about Getsy. Quote
zippyrifle32 Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 i said i thought he wasn't playing that well and people blamed the o-line. while they are to take some of the blame i think that getsy has a lot of work to do, and i don't see what he's been hyped up to be. hopefully he figures out what makes him tick at the last second and can utilize that for the whole game. CMichFan Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 If a Chip fan might chime in for a moment? Most of the game, we had heavy pressure on Getsy, and he was rushed on a lot of throws. It helped that we were able to deny the run after the first series or so. Late in the game, when our DL got tired and/or your OL stepped up (some of both, I think), he had all day to throw and seemed to have a laser sight mounted on his helmet. FWIW. Good, exciting game today. I don't think any coach in the MAC will feel safe even up by 21 against the Zips this fall! Quote
fear the brown roo Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 this is a guy who led us to the mac championship. the problem is we were stopped near the goal line, and then jd went for it on 4th down.luke can not block or run the ball.but he has to make an easy pass to a wide open full back in the end zone and not over throw him. it's not all luke and i am not saying to change quarterbacks by any means. there has to be a lot more to this than we know. gozips19 Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 he's a senior and needs to make better reads reguardless if he's feeling heat from the d..... i think he'll come around and get well against north texas Quote
Buckzip Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 The N. texas game is a must win. We shoudl win easily, but after yesterdxay, I feel it will be a tough one. Quote
sgm405 Posted September 18, 2006 Author Report Posted September 18, 2006 Rasor brought this thread up in his blog...my response is up there.http://blogs.ohio.com/rasor/2006/09/the_mo...1.html#comments Quote
zipfan03 Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 big problem on saturday was that we had over 400 yards in the 4th and only what... 13 points on the board? that doesnt say much for our red zone offence. Quote
GP1 Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 I'm not worried about Luke. He is not playing nearly has horrible as he did midseason last year and I stuck with him then and I'll stick with him now. We just finished playing possibly the three most difficult teams on our schedule, all on the road, and his numbers are pretty good. We won the championship with him last year with almost exactly the same statistics. 2005 he averaged 265 yards per game and completed 53% of his passes. 2006 he is averaging 259.3 yards per game and is completing 50% of his passes. He has NEVER had sexy numbers.A team lives and dies with the play of the QB. Luke must play better on the goal line. Our league is horrible this season (anyone see how bad Miami and Can't looked on Saturday?) and we should compete for the MAC East championship with this team. The late season string of home games will save us. See everyone in Detroit. Quote
Big Zips Fan (220lb) Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 We won the championship with him last year with almost exactly the same statistics. 2005 he averaged 265 yards per game and completed 53% of his passes. 2006 he is averaging 259.3 yards per game and is completing 50% of his passes. He has NEVER had sexy numbers. Let's not forget that last year we also: 1. had a 1,000 yard rusher in Brett Biggs2. didn't miss or get extra points blocked on a semi-regular basis3. see number 2 as it applies to short field goals Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 Luke is our Brett Favre. Not Favre 2006, but more like 2002. Gunslingers like Luke are going to break your heart sometimes. I'm banking on a great game from him next week. Quote
