PressCover Posted May 31, 2016 Report Posted May 31, 2016 Is this a good thing for Akron athletics... especially for football? I've seen presidential changes effect athletics at other Universities different ways. Some good, some bad, some indifferent. One thing for sure is there "should" be an overall boost in morale. I'm a newbie to the Akron family but it seemed most people were just waiting for the Scarborough tenure to come to an end. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted June 1, 2016 Report Posted June 1, 2016 My only observations of our former President with regards to athletics are: He says of InfoCision: "I wouldn't have built that stadium." When asked if he'd consider dropping the football program to the 1-AA level: "Sure, we need to consider all options." When introduced at a 2016 basketball game the crowd resoundingly boo'd him. He killed the baseball program. So in my opinion, the guy was clueless regarding athletics, and it is a happy day that he is gone. Like his soulmate Rob Ianello, he was fired 2 years too late. 2 Quote
morris buttermaker Posted June 1, 2016 Report Posted June 1, 2016 Unfortunately, I don't think any president that comes in to do the job needed will ever be viewed positively by the public. The financial iceberg hasn't gone away. 2 Quote

They need a press secretary. Quote

The financial iceberg hasn't gone away. This is true. Expect more cuts (staff) along with a sizeable drop in enrollment, though it won't be as bad due to the recent developments. A positive is that these will both most likely be happening under an interim President, so when a permanent one is appointed, some of the necessary PR hit will be avoided. 1 Quote
