TennZip Posted October 31, 2017 Report Posted October 31, 2017 http://www.herdzone.com/sports/m-soccer/recaps/102817aaa.html The zips next opponent defeated Alabama Birmingham in their last game and former Zip Adi Dakwar was the hero. Adi played 58 minutes and had the golden goal. ....and a belated thank you to Adi Dakwar for converting his penalty kick against Stanford in the NCAA semis in 2015. 1 Quote

Z.I.P. Posted November 1, 2017 Report Posted November 1, 2017 Aha! A Wednesday game. Thus, the reason I cannot find the broadcast on my computer! Hasta manyana! Quote
Z.I.P. Posted November 1, 2017 Report Posted November 1, 2017 Just saw a closeup for the first time. Snowing there?? Quote
Z.I.P. Posted November 1, 2017 Report Posted November 1, 2017 From the looks of the field, we're playing in an ice storm tonight! Wow! Quote
Z.I.P. Posted November 1, 2017 Report Posted November 1, 2017 Announcers won't say the conditions, but I wouldn't want to be out in it! The Zips are not playing well tonight. Ten minutes left in the half, and except for a blast high by Gainford, no real attack. Need energy. Quote
Z.I.P. Posted November 1, 2017 Report Posted November 1, 2017 Yellow card on Marshall for a forearm shiver to...Kahsay? Fouls: 8-2 Marshall the majority of "gives". Shots 3-3? Quote
Z.I.P. Posted November 2, 2017 Report Posted November 2, 2017 No ice or snow according to Zips Social media, but getting to be more like monsoon conditions from the look of it! Quote
Z.I.P. Posted November 2, 2017 Report Posted November 2, 2017 Well, didn't see the call, but Stewie H. just put away a PK for Akron. 1-0. Phhewww! 24 minutes remaining. Quote
Z.I.P. Posted November 2, 2017 Report Posted November 2, 2017 Great stop by Marshall's keeper prevents Egbo from making it 2-nil. 13:00 to play. Finish! Quote
Z.I.P. Posted November 2, 2017 Report Posted November 2, 2017 Weird second goal...Skye Harter appears to get it over the line, but little celebration...Ref pointed to the center circle. Everyone is ready to get to the warmth of indoors... Quote
Z.I.P. Posted November 2, 2017 Report Posted November 2, 2017 Marshall's GK makes another great save on...Hines this time? Nearing the finish... Quote
UAZipster0305 Posted November 2, 2017 Report Posted November 2, 2017 (edited) Looks like you were the only one in here, Z.I.P. Kudos on that passion. At 2PM in Hawaii, you shoulda been out on a surf board and watched the game on replay rather than live. Marshall played with heart, but just couldn't hang talent-wise. If not for some very solid play by their keeper, it would have been 4-0. I haven't posted in a long while, but have been following closely all season. Zips are in full form: composed, confident, and a complete team including the subs. Not a single opponent has scored more than one goal on us. We have only allowed 8 goals in 16 games, if I counted right. That's outstanding. The first two games were enigmas, and I don't think WMU can beat us twice in one season. Three more wins and we could be looking at a top 3-6 seed. I really wish we had those first two games back. Edited November 2, 2017 by UAZipster0305 1 Quote

Happily stayed to shake players' hands on their way to team room under the stands. The result kept me from getting too cold. Warmed up in the car on the way home. Thanks to the other die hard Zips fans who sat through those conditions to support our deserving team. Go Zips! Quote

If anyone watches the replay -- I have been too busy -- the field surface looked like it was covered in ice crystals. It sure reconfirmed my decision to relocate to the Central Pacific. I only wish I could see this team in person, and in warmth. They are playing with the greatest confidence of any Zips team in years. With the exception of some ill-timed passes early in the thermally-challenged first-half, the team was in complete control and Marshall lacked the skill to compete that WMU will bring to the(ir) pitch next week. I'm confident Jared will have them, ready for battle, though. And for another title! Quote
