The wildcard in recruiting that is coming on quickly is the name-image-likeness compensation rights legislation. Who knows which of the G5 schools will have the biggest sponsors/boosters that will provide the most financial opportunity for the better players. It could shake things up a little or a lot.

My guess would be Cincy, Houston, SMU, Memphis, Boise State, and maybe Rice.

Gene Chizik was hired at Iowa State and brought his fishing buddies with him.  It was terrible.  He recruited pretty well and the fan base got energized, but he coached horribly once the games actually started.  Despite his claims of "being firmly entrenched" (which in Ames means "to lie to your face"), he was on a plane to Auburn within a few days.  At the airport, he was greeted by someone with a sign that had his Iowa State record "3 and 19."  Apparently, he needed to be in the right place with the right team.  Give him Scam Newton, he wins a national championship in his first season there.  So perhaps you need better bagmen!   

 

Seriously, Chizik stands out to us as a bad coach who got moved along by circumstances without us having to fire him.  Maybe there is some hope in that for you.

Note the phone with Auburn colors that is ringing at the "firmly entrenched" press conference.  There was talk about it having an ABV of 3.19, both to commemorate his record and to mock him as being weak.  

 

Even in our losing, our fans find a way to be energized.  Hoping the same for you guys.

I agree with those and would add UConn, UMass, Liberty and maybe the military academies.

I agree with UConn, UMass, and Liberty. If a player goes to a military academy he would also have to commit to serving a few years in the army/navy/air force. For a player that has hopes of going pro that's a non starter. For others I think it would take a significant sum of money to commit to such a thing if they didn't have interest in serving in the first place.

Honestly I don't see it having a huge impact, at least at the G5 level. At the end of the day there aren't that many players in the nation that are going to make a material amount of money off of their likeness, and they're going to go to the blue blood schools that they would have gone to anyway.
