Zips Win!
The word is that Andy Wills has a partial tear of the MCL, a bone bruise and no meniscus damage. There is a possibility that he may be back for the OU game.
InTheZone
Hopefully he takes longer. Watching the offensive line this year, no one has unimpressed me as much as Andy Wills. The Zips will be better off in my opinion with Mike Schepp or Alleman in that spot.
Captain Kangaroo
I hope Andy is finds a kick-ass knee brace for the OU game. We will need him. Holley blew his MCL in practice last week and is apparently done for the season. Despite radio reports, Shepp (not Holley) finished the game vs. BG. Shepp did so on one leg, since he's still on the mend from the Cinci game. We've had some severe lapses on the OL this year that have really overshadowed some solid performances. OL is a tough position...if someone gives up a sack, everyone thinks the entire OL sucks. Conversely, if a WR drops a pass, that WR is the only one singled out. Wills has been solid for a couple years.I hope someone can fill in for Wills this week. Despite what many think, the Buffalo game could be crucial to any bowl hopes. To-date, we have not played like a bowl team. But we have the talent to do so. I hope the seniors get a sense of desperation and kick some ass in practice this week. This is their last chance to make an impression on the youngsters. I hope that, if that happens, the youngsters learn what it takes to win. Just showing up ain't enough. In the MAC, if you let down, you'll lose. I want Luke's legacy...and Andy Alleman's legacy...and Reggie Corner's legacy...and Kiki Gonzales's legacy and Jermaine Reid's legacy to be how they finished 2006. They can't do it alone. The TEAM needs to get their act together and win-out. If they care, they can do it. Look at Jabari's last several games. Brandon Anderson. Andre Jones. Kennedy last week. Individually, the fight is there. But we can't let up. If one guy out of 11 falters on either side of the ball, we're done. Finish tough, guys. For the program, for yourselves, for your legacy, for a bowl.
Ballingirl
It needs to be the seniors that lead this team to another victory season!!! I don't think enough of the younger guys have the team mentality in them to pull it together! The further through the season we get, the more the attitudes appear. One game at a time,....that's how it's done. One game at a time. This is the only time this season that we have 2 home games in a row. We need to use it to our advantage. Beat Buffalo, we are on a winning streak. Get on a winning streak, gain momentum. It would put us one step closer to another MACC. Momentum and heart is what this team needs going into OU. That is going to be a tough game. If these seniors can get it into the heads of these younger guys that, despite everything else that has happened this season, this is the time to pull together and make big things happen. These seniors know what it takes to get where they were last year. I would hate to see them end their college careers on a loss to OU in the 2nd to last game. They worked so hard for what they got last year, and even if nobody else does, those seniors deserve to repeat this year. I will be there rooting them on! To Alleman, Reggie Corner, Kiki, Groza, Luke and J. Reid.............BRING IT HOME BOYS!!!
GoZips88
The early line is Akron -16.5/-17. I think that is high but I hope it is right. The potential is there but the consistency/heart/desire/focus has been hit-miss. I hope there is enough left there on the o-line for this stretch run. Going to need everything we can get out of those guys if we hope to run the table. Go Zips!
johnnyzip84
I agree that 17 points seems too high, in fact I think considerably too high. This time of year is always interesting. When a down-trodden program likes Buffalo gets a glimpse of success late in the season, it's not hard for that little bit of momentum to catch hold and carry the team to better performances for the duration of the schedule. I particularly expect the Bulls to come out sky high, with big hits on special teams etc. They have nothing at all to lose and are probably getting excited about possibly turning the corner with 1st year coach Turner Gill. The Zips will need to match that intensity, in my opinion, or it could be a frustratingly close win at the least, or a very disappointing loss at the most. It's hard for me NOT to believe that the Zip seniors won't put forth their best effort. I just hope this is enough.

Ballingirl
That's why I don't think anyone has the right to think we have this game in the bag. In the "Get ready, here it comes" post, TXZipFan basically called me crazy for thinking this week is even going to be a game. Noone can look past Buffalo at this point in the season. Every win matters for every team. Even the bottom feeders can upset the teams on the top and cause a whole new ballgame in the MAC. With Buffalo having nothing to lose, they are going to come into Akron with some fire, just like they did against Can't. Both teams are coming off wins and I am expecting it to be neck-and-neck. GO ZIPS!!!
TXZipFan
Ballingirl, I didn't call you "crazy", I simply disagreed with you and felt Buffalo will not give us as much of a game as you think. To be honest as long as we play the way we can... everything will be fine. Also I'm not worried at all about us overlooking a team that just knocked off Can't, JD would not let that happen. If they do it's on JD because thats a coaches job to get his team prepared for the game. BUT like I said I don't see that happening and I see the Zips rolling big and CJ getting his long awaited PT. Now I don't think my statement was outlandish or wrong, it's just my opinion.
Ballingirl
I hope you're right that we blow them out, I'm just stating an opinion based on past performances against a winless Buffalo team from last year and Toledo from this year. Agreed to disagree!
Buckzip
A blowout would be nice. I would like to see some of the younger guys get some playing time. However, this team seems to do the opposite of what we think they will do.
johnnyzip84
Nobody would welcome a blowout more than me. But I have a really hard time predicting one, since the closest thing we've seen to one was the North Texas game and even that one had a few shaky moments in the 2nd half. I hope I'm wrong

GO ZIPS!!! It has been many years since my so called athletic achievements, but one thing I do remember is that you NEVER, NEVER, EVER take any opponent lightly. If you have a bad game and they play over their heads, guess what, there is a very good chance that you will get your butt kicked. If you must belittle an opponent do so after the game, the game you won.
