Captain Kangaroo
Toledo beat Northern Illinois @ DeKalb last night. An interesting stat they brought up after Toledo got an early TD:Toledo was 12-12 in their last twelve trips to the red zone. All 12 scores were TD's. That's pretty impressive. Hell, for a Zips fan that's downright unfathomable.Yes, Toledo is in a "down" year. But they're still a decent team and well coached. They're improving as the season goes on.I think this game also hurt our 3-way tie breaker possibilities, since K.e.n.t. beat Toledo and we didn't. UAZipster0305
We played both CMU and WMU, so I think we'll have the 3 way tie breaker if it comes down to that. Keep in mind the western division opponents were as follows:Akron: CMU (5-0), Toledo (2-4), WMU (5-1); Overall Western Record (12-5)Can't: Toledo (2-4), EMU (1-5), Ball St (3-3); Overall Western Record (6-12)Ohio: NIU (3-3), WMU (5-1), EMU (1-5); Overall Western Record (9-9)I believe the three-way tie breaker would work in our favor because we have the stronger Western schedule by far. Thus, the best way to look at the outcome of the NIU-Toledo game in relation to us is to say that in the event of a three-way tie breaker, we just picked up a full game on Ohio. However, we have to do our part and win out! If we don't, this is all academic. Like last year, we have to do our part and hope that Can't and Ohio falter down the stretch.

No epic scoring droughts...no killer red zone turnovers...keep our penalty yardage below 60 yds...stop Buffalo on their first offensive series, since you KNOW they're coming out in the no-huddle. That would give us the decisive win vs. Buffalo that we should see. And, it would give me hope for OU.

Like Nav said, we'd already have the second tier tiebreaker with more East wins, but even if we didn't the 3rd tier is simply the record of all the west teams you've played, not the ones you've beaten.
