FearTheRoo
I am in a hotel. I am flipping stations. I come across the Miami-BG game on EPSN2. The score is Miami 9 BG 7 with 8:00 to go in the game. The two bums doing the play by play immediately launch in to an OSU rant that included clips of OSU's win over northwestern and a photo/stats feature on screen of Troy Smith. ALL WHILE THE MIAMI/BG GAME WAS GOING ON!!! For about two minutes of game clock, they didn't even mention any of the action in a 2 point game in the last minutes of the game!!!! It wasn't until the 5:00 mark that they finally started talk about the game and acknowledged that is was a close one!!! WTF?? ESPN should be ashamed!!!!! RowdyZip
it's late in the season. they care about the big boys, cmon now...we'll be fighting this fight forever. (and not that i'm agreeing with that choice, but it is the battle of 1-9 vs 4-6) They should be ashamed for putting this game on tv and missing the CMU/WMU tilt. I could yell about national networks till I'm blue in the face. instead I'll just chuckle until i'm turquoise-green in the face. GO ZIPS!!! gozips19
i take it you didn't watch the bsu ut game yesterday then??? they had about 5 phone interviews from doug flutie to rutgers head coach. the only person that was a little into the game was Speilmen and you could have guessed the tried to talk osu mu with him most of the game. i will stay positive for a second as mac games are on 5 days in a row and that doesn't suck! Sergeant Zip
Did anyone notice the graphic they put up before BGSU's FG. The had the MAC standings and they were wrong. They had Akron at 2-3 in the MAC and 4-5 overall. Awful.
FearTheRoo
yes, I understand, but if you're going to give the airtime, then respect the teams and the conference. The best is they just put a graphic up showing the MAC East standings and they had Akron's conference record at 2-3.....um, I think we beat Buffalo for MAC win number 3!!!!AND THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE ESPN???!!! Pathetic......
RowdyZip
yep. incredibly unprofessional, especially for a national telecast. good thing: This helps us two fold...bg is officially eliminated, and also miami will be looking to close the season with consecutive wins at home in their finale against ohio. that game could put us back in detroit for a rematch against cmu. RACER
unfortunately. i agree with rowdy.no use fighting this thread over ,and over. espn could care less about mac football, or what mac fans think.were basically a fill for air time, and when something better comes; mac games are moved to espnu.espnu which no can get on cable.akron got screwed last year for the Can't game; which we moved for them.we got to clinch the mac east on espn u. we were replaced on espn2 by world poker tour re-run. that pretty much sums it up. that's how much espn cares about the mac.world poker tour re-runs are more important than mac football.they are going to pimp the big match ups,and no matter how much we complain .it's not going to change it. Indians06
Not to be rude but I don't think people from BGSU or Miami even cared about this game. ESPN gets good ratings for these games because bettors have money on them and watch them. If there were no line on this game I know it would not be shown on ESPN. So not many people cared about what the brodcasters had to say, or cared about ethir team, just the final score

Why is it unfortunate you agree with me? Do you randomly insert spaces and periods amongst the letters and numbers of your post, or is that some other kind of punctuation? ;)Oh, and welcome to the boards Indians06, heck of a time for a first post! johnnyzip84
Sergeant and Rowdy, I also saw the mistake on Akron's record. How does the ESPN network let something like that slip? I also thought that there should have at least been some discussion from the crew about Montgomery's lack of clock management during BG's final drive. Sure it worked out in the end, but I thought that using a timeout earlier to save a little time in case BG made the FG was questionable, or at least deserved some discussion (I think it was more the field conditions than any "ice job" that caused the FG to be missed). But, of course, the goofs were too busy drumming with their fingers and laughing hysterically at themselves. One positive is that MAC fans like us can at least watch a few games like this. Hopefully, ESPN won't find anything better for at least a few years.
Zips fan
I have watched the UT/BSU and MU/BGSU the last two nights and I am so sick of OSU/UM talk. First off, they aren't in the MAC so I really don't care about the game. I know that those teams are rivals and there are alot of fans for them, but how about paying attention to the teams actually playing. I don't care who wins between those two teams this weekend, but I can't wait for the media blitz to be over. Let go "end of game"!
Ballingirl
Let me just say this.....I am one of the BIGGEST OSU fans out there!! And I have been counting the days until the game!!!! BUT......lets give BGSU and UT some respect! That was absolutely rediculous last night! I understand it wasn't a very exciting game, mostly due to the field conditions and inability to make any big plays in the mud, but COME ON! If they wanted to have a raving session about the OSU/Michigan game, why not just air a special at that time last night. To use a lesser division's game to focus on a Big Ten rivalry game is insulting to those 2 teams on the field. I also understand that it is a HUGE rivalry and THE biggest game in their history, but like I said, if you want to give them the airtime to discuss it, set up that special show and air that show instead of the game. And they should be smacked for the errorred records on the MAC record board. If you don't care enough about a conference to give it it's due, then DONT GIVE THEM ANY ATTENTION!!! I would rather have NO games aired on ESPN than to have a game aired and all the talk during the game be on 2 other teams. I find that as a bigger insult! They sure cared about the MAC last year when Akron had a major upset in the MACC didn't they? They loved the ratings they got from the MAC then didn't they! flipthezip
I will give it to ESPN for their sideline reporting last night. They could see the potential for a game winning field goal being the deciding factor and got the insight from the BG kicker regarding his range and preferences. With that, BG's coach should be fired for not getting the ball to the left hash mark - where the kicker said he was more comfortable from and where it was dry. Instead, they went with a pass on 3rd down with the QB rolling to the left - incomplete. Bring the ball back to the center of the field in 3 inches of mud and let the freshman give it a try. Ooops, he slipped. Wounded duck low and left. Also, during the 4th quarter brought to you by the OSU/Michigan game, Lou Holtz did take a moment to praise both teams and coaches for such a hard fought game. He knows what type of football gets played in the MAC.As for the records blounder, looks like some intern or administrative assistant is looking for work today. GP1
Week night ESPN games have become nothing but promotional items for ABC/ESPN weekend games. They aren't even trying to hide it at this point. They could care less about the game in progress.

I have DISH Network so last year for the Nevada Basketball game I shelled out an extra $8 or so a month to get a package upgrade and ESPN U. I kept it, and now I get to sit home and watch all the Zip games everyone complains that they can't get. I'd invite everyone over to watch with me but you would probalbly drink all my beer and my wife had a "serious talk" with me some years ago about inviting my rowdy friends over to watch football and basketball. I do wear the pants in the family, but if she divorced me I guarntee you she would own those pants and naked I'm not a very pretty sight. johnnyzip84
Then this probably wouldn't be a good time to mention that, having Massillon Cable, I have the good fortune of receiving ESPNU as part of the standard, digital package Go Zips!!!!
