New Stadium: What should it look like?

Was scrounging around for pics of other stadiums, mostly ones similar to schools the size of Akron, looking for ones that I think would be a good fit for the school. THIS ONE appears to be a good fit. 30k capacity, plenty of room to expand. Boise State has done a good job with their football program and turning an old stadium into a quality venue.

Rowdy....Thanks for the pic of Boise State's stadium. I agree that a stadium like that would be nice. I know I don't want anything like they have at Bowling Green where they have a big set of stands on one side, and it's mostly open the rest of the way around.I still like the idea of an indoor stadium, where they can use it for big basketball games as well. It was originally proposed in the 80's as a smaller version of the Carrier Dome in Syracuse. But that was when a previous administration had wanted to build us as a major independent. We'll NEVER see anything like that as a MAC school. But, I can keep dreaming.

I was at Bronco Stadium when we played them there in 79..it's beautiful. Do you think it would cost too much for us?That thing they're thinking about up on Route 8 ...$20 mill, and indoor.Too bad we couldn't build something like that for the Zips on campus...How much are they thinking a new UA stadium would cost?

Princeton's new stadium is a great lay out. It has a big time feel but seats are on top of the field. It seats 27,800. It was built in '98 for $45 million.pri-prinstadium2.jpegStandford's new stadium is great. It a little larger at 50,000 seats but could be scaled down by not adding the upper decks in the end zones.stan-stadium-new-150.jpgUtah's Rice-Eccles Stadium is another nice smaller stadium. It seats 46,500.aerial.jpgNavy also has a nice stadium. It seats 35,000.Aerial04Side.jpgI think the key is to make it look big time. I prefer upper decks and seats all arounnd the stadium then 2 huge grandstands like most mac schools.

ewwwww...lets hope not.We need something that wraps around one of the end zones.Last time I was in Yunztown, they only had stands on the one side..one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. Can you imagine what that looks like on TV when the cameras are on the press box side....would look like an open field.I know they've now put stand on the opposite side, but still too much open area, as is the case with most MAC stadiums too.

How about this: ysustadiummp6.jpgThat is a good design for a start: 21,000 seats. If you can actually fill that... then bowl it and double the size of the smaller side which is approx. 8000 seats.
how about this: :puke: seriously, if we're going to build a new stadium then it should at least look like a college stadium. and then you say bowl it...which would make it nothing like what your picture is...so what is your point?

Last time I checked YSU has outdone Akron in attendance for the last 8 years.... And with that being said: You guys are posting about 35-40,000 seats when you can't get 15000 to your games. Start with a 21,000 seat stadium like YSU and if you sell it out, you can bowl it... Little did you know they had drawings made to make Stambaugh a bowl, the only thing that stopped that from happening is the veto by Akron-Can't to allow YSU into the MAC.THANKS!Start small and build up. Stambaugh is nicer than the Rubber Bowl and Dix Stadium---and I am not the only one saying that, your boosters at your games tell me that.

Dude no offense but down here in TX, we've got bigger h.s. stadiums, and we will pack a 32-40k seat stadium if it's on campus guaranted.
I know that... Congrats. So pretty much you are also dissing at your own team: the Akron Zips who struggle to get 1/3 of that.HS Football is life down in TX and pretty much is here as well. Fans will go to HS games in the worst weather conditions, that is not the case for colleges I have seen.BTW: Dallas-Houston-San Antonio are 8-10 times the size of Youngstown.

You have an incredible chip on your shoulder my man.You blame Akron and Can't for everything that Yunztown doesn't have.If Yunztown draws so well, why did you need to get into the MAC to have a bigger stadium?I'm sure that since YSU is so darn good in everything they do, that they also have their own forum...why don't you visit that one instead of our's.uh, bye bye now.
