zff
Dennis Kennedy is a 5-11 190 RB from Flordia with 4.4 speed. He sigined with OSU this year but thee was some paper work problems and now he is going to be a Zip. The link below is the whole story. CLick the Link
Captain Kangaroo
Obviously great news! Did he simply not meet OSU's requirements, or the NCAA's? Wonder if he's elegible (for us) in 2004?
Captain Kangaroo
Per gozips.com: Kennedy, a three-sport standout from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., will enter the fall as a freshman and have four years of eligibility remaining. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound running back signed a national letter of intent with Ohio State in February, but was recently released from that obligation. Although "remaining" is a poor choice of words, I'd take this to mean he can play from Day 1. Now...I wonder if he'll redshirt, or play? zff
This is a HUGE pick up for the Zips. Everything I have read says this kid is a diamond in the rough and could be a real star. He is quoted as saying that a chance at early playing time was a reason he choose Akron. Now my question is does one of the other frosh RB's change positions?????. I believe the Zips now have 5 new RB's coming in this year.

Some of the other guys might get a look as DB's? Wonder how this might affect Tyrell Sutton's decision? One thing I'll always remember: Didn't we have Brandon Payne, Hendry, Marcus Sanders, Thomas Plummer, Matt Carter, Ringer, etc. and we wondered "how the hell are there going to be enough footballs for these guys?" Payne gets hurt, Sanders quits, Plummer gets booted off the team, Carter quits, etc. All the sudden we're down to Hendry! You can't have too much depth!! Guest Guest_racer
hopefully this kid will work out. i agree we do not have any proven depth at rb. we need as many rb's as possible especially playing on turf. what scares me is we dont have any big rb's. arent they all around 190. im excluding the fb.i would think if this kid is good as adverstised he may see some pt. i think its really hard for any true freshman to come in and play right away .hopefully after a few games he can only help us at rb. Guest Guest_Z.I.P.
Yes -- a miraculous, WAY beyond the last minute pick-up for JD & Co. But there are some other sidelight issues that may bounce back in future recruiting between the players in this deal: OSU accepted his letter of intent in February, then comes back MONTHS later and tells him go to a JC, 'cause we don't have your paperwork?? [Tyrell Sutton, make note of this] You have got to be kidding me. Coach Tressel has got to come out of this with major cake on his face. [That IS chocolate frosting isn't it?] Second, Insiders listed his offers prior to signing the OSU LOI as OSU, Pitt and Rutgers. It would sure be nice to find out which -- if any -- other schools were in on the fight in July. Did Pitt know the kid was a free agent? Anyway, cheers! You have to believe that JD was involved with recruiting Kennedy @ Pitt.
Guest OSUMBuckeye
Dennis Kennedy has met the NCAA standards and has been cleared by the NCAA, but apparently did not meet entrance recquirements to get accepted at OSU. As a prospect he was a bit of a sleeper, and flew under the radar, so he really didn't have an impressive offer list. If you wantto know more try going to buckeyeplanet.com There is a guy there by the handle helpinghand who has helped DK through the recruiting process. He has never had anything but good things to say about DK.
Guest Guest_racer
if his times are right 10.8 100m he be one of the fastest zips on the team already. it would be nice to have a back with that kind of breakaway speed. if he can catch the ball out of the backfeild with c frye throwing him would even be a bigger plus.
