blueandgold Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Has anyone heard if BG will be moving back to the MAC West when Temple joins? I know they moved to the MAC East when both Marshall and Central Florida left the East to balance out the divisions. Obviously Temple must be coming to the MAC East. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Like before, it seems pretty much a guarantee BG will return to the West. They prefer being with their Toledo buddies. Quote
rocketfootball Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 Like before, it seems pretty much a guarantee BG will return to the West. They prefer being with their Toledo buddies. Actually that is wrong. When they agreed to originally move to the West they had it in the contract that they would be the first team given the opportunity to move to the East if a shift ever occurred again. They like the East better as it puts them in the division with another rival, Miami, who they wouldn't necessarily play every year if they were in the West. Since the UT/BG rivalry is so big they know they will be playing us every year no matter what division they are in and they like the idea of a possible UT/BG MACC Game someday. With Temple joining I fully expect the East to have 7 team and the West to have 6 teams. Remember, Temple gives us an odd number of teams. If we expand again, then that expansion school could be put in the West, or maybe at that time they will ask BG to move to the West again if they bring in a school like UMASS or something. Quote

TXZipFan Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 They're not a bad team and it helps add more east coast exposure for the MAC. He did kinda pul that outta thin air, but it really isn't a crazy idea. Like I said it would really help with getting the MAC further exposure with the east coast. The broader the conference can be location wise the better, it would only help with expanding television coverage and bowl chances. Actually the bowl chances need to be addressed by the MAC, because I believe 4 teams from the MAC should be participating in bowl games every year. So c'mon MAC teams let's sweep in the bowl games and earn this conference some more respect!!! Quote

Zipmeister Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 Maybe UMess could start a new D1 conference with YSU. Quote
