UCONN added to next years schedule?

I might have to make the trip for that .. it's been awhile since I've been on campus (UConn grad) .. mmm .. Willington Pizza ... Ted's grinders .. oh wait .. the stadium is 30 minutes from campus. Yes 30 minutes! I do hear it's nice though.Side note: When I was but a learner @ UConn in the early 90's football was an afterthought. Once a year we would go tailgate ourselves sick before the Yale game, but few if any students ever saw the team in uniform. In fact during a budget crunch year, the student rag did an informal poll of how to save money (memory tells me that they were considering killing Allied Health majors (OT & PT)). The predominate majority of students queried agreed that they should kill football. It was, is and ever shall be a hoops school & state. I'm amazed by the gate success they've had since going I-A.

Used to live in Storrs myself Zip Watcher, and about the same time you did. To add on your list of places.....how about the Bidwell Tavern in Coventry? Willington Pizza was awesome, the Greek pizza especially. Ted's grinders.....how about Ted's upstairs....four and a half walls, a bar, a dart board in the back and a lot of draft beers. Wasn't there a place called Woody's out in Ashford or somewhere like that....I can't remember the name of the little town? What was the name of that YSU like stadium they had on campus behind the basketball arena? Is Yale a school or a sound one makes when they :puke: ?

GP1,Had temporary amnesia regarding the Bidwell .. very nice place. Ted's upstairs was where we pissed away the afternoons most of my senior year there .. they had a pizza & pitcher special for 10 bucks that amply supplied 3 people for a few hours of dart throwing.I lived about a mile down from Willie Pie my junior year .. I claim it's the best pizza east of N. Main St. in Akron. Totally different animal .. but killer pie.The Woody's thing doesn't ring a bell .. I'll have to think about that for a bit .. maybe not in my travels.I think the stadium was called Memorial Field or something. Held 12K if it was lucky. Was never more than half full as I can recall, but this was before Skip Holtz and the drive to move upstream.Storrs was a tremendously fun place to be as an undergrad. Alchoholism was encouraged & a wetter campus you may not ever encounter. Don't know what it's like these days, it's been about 10 years since I've been back. I'll swear up and down that whoever wrote the movie PCU (Favreau & Piven starred) must have spent some formative time on that campus. What with all of the different cause groups & the frats off campus .. the pit .. all smells like a UConn student to me. Great memories.

I will continue with my humor.Play a mediocre I-A UConn. Or play a premier I-AA YSU and get 25,000+ in the Rubber Bowl?We had 7000 down in Pittsburgh.3000 in Happy Valley. 1000 in Boone, NC.Going to have a huge gathering down at Ohio Stadium 9/1/2007.Bring a couple hundred to every away game in the Gateway.Brought 8,000 to Can't in the past.I am telling you. We can bring 10,000 to the Rubber Bowl, and with the 12th game rule, it will not hurt to play us.But I guess UCONN looks more impressive!

I agree with the penguin. Adding another road game is formula to wear out our team. I'm very disappointed we are making the same mistake again. Having to play OSU is bad enough.

We should probably have a 1-AA school that allows us to possibly sit our starters if the score allows and it would give us another home game.

I think this could be legitimate. I know the U was after a Big East team to fill next year's schedule (along with Army, Indiana and OSU). The other option was a D-IAA, but the Rubber Bowl probably can't sustain six home games the next two seasons.
Why not?I know it's in bad shape, but it's not going to implode or anything....or will it?

If they are, then so are Indians08's.Now c-mon, you should know by now that YSU is a football school, with very strong baseball-softball-track programs who are some of the best in the Horizon.Throw the argument out about b-ball, we are under a new coach and are far from being that good, Akron is far better in b-ball and far better in recruiting. You can't tell me that adding YSU to the MAC doesn't benefit not only Akron, but CANT STATE!I know you are against it, but now c-mon, think of the positives and think of how well the I-AA's are doing in I-A right now!Marshall- Up to the last few years, was making a bowl every year.Boise St- [ysu beat in 94 title] just won the Fiesta Bowl.Troy- Won a bowl game.Nevada- Nearly edged out MiamiThe 3 remaining powers in I-AA that you will see in I-A in the next 10 years are Montana, YSU, and Georgia Southern.-----------------------Can you post who you guys have NON-CONFERENCE for me?

Don't tell us about joining the MAC.Tell your own administration to make the jump to IA...then, get the rest of the MAC presidents to let you in.The Michigan schools are very much against another Ohio school. However, you continue to blame just Akron and Can't.Personally, I don't care...but don't preach to us when your own school has to make the committment to IA...that means $$$$$.We were the first school to go from IAA to IA and we were independent for many years before joinging the conference.

The Zips need a home opponent the week before the Ohio State game.Preferablly a I-AA team that wont threaten. Kind of like Tressel getting YSU the week before the Akron game to improve the Buckeyes chances against the Zips.Tressel may have had a bad night out in Arizona, that does not make him stupid. Heknows what Zips did down in Raleigh. Chuck Amato is looking for a job.The only time the Zips should ever play YSU is at home as a tune up game such asYSU is giving the Buckeyes in 2007. YSU is not a viable opponent over the long course.

Hey folks, I still didn't get an answer as to when I should expect to see a next year's schedule. I love this site 'cause I can learn a lot from all you experts. (I'm trying not to grovel too much) My guess is that the MAC releases all the schedules at the same time but I really have no clue to that. I've always taken it for granted (from some of the posts I've read in the past) that the athletic director does the scheduling. Can anyone pleeease enlighten me as to the process. After all, I've got plans to make :thumb:

one reason you wont see a I AA team is that you can only count a win against a I AA team once every three years for bowl eligibility. with that being said, 3 road games is too much. does anyone know if akron is trying to get out of the army game? :screwks:
Can anyone out there verify the factuality of this statement? As I understand it, this is no longer the rule, since the move to 12-game schedules (13 for Hawai'i Warriors and opponents). B)
