Two DL's are now officially gone from the program, likely never to return to the Zips unless they buy a game ticket:Antwon Hight - No GPA. Dropped out without taking finals.Jerrel Stoudemire - Finished the semester, but didn't make grades. Transferred to a JUCO somewhere. As mentioned by ITZ, DL Clarence McPherson also left. A win/win, as he was unhappy in Akron, and no one was really too sad to see him leave. If BuckZip would now like to add these names to his rant list, he can do so.Nate Robinson is apparently "feeling the waters" regarding his NFL draft status...like Frye did after Owens was canned. He hasn't signed with an agent...at least to anyone's knowledge. My gut feeling is the waters are pretty frigid.Johnny Peyton, a WR from South Florida was supposed to transfer to Akron this fall. It didn't happen.RB Andrew Johnson, as mentioned by a few others, will transfer from Miami Fl to Akron for his senior year. He'll sit out 2007. He's extremely fast, and may get a look at WR.Look for some interesting names getting a look on the DL this spring. Also - There are 5 scholarships remaining. Expect most, or all, to go to defensive linemen.

"If BuckZip would now like to add these names to his rant list, he can do so."Why bother Cap'n you will just attack me, call me names and then lock the thread. You remember the thread in which you stated I said none of those guys would qualify, when actually I only said they aren't currently on the team. Was I wrong? No, I wasn't.You obviously don't like anyone not seeing things the way you do.Let's just blow smoke.I don't need to say anything more. Others have finally seen it too.Notice, I haven't said anything. And I won't anymore. I am not blind. It is really sad that you feel you are the only Zips fan there is.I have been following UA since the late 60's, yet you call me someone with an agenda.Implying I am not a fan. Whatever, you are the dictator here.

From the Random House dictionary: "ad ho·mi·nem - appealing to one's prejudices, emotions, or special interests rather than to one's intellect or reason... ."Many who would participate in the forum of the Zip Nation don't because of the ad hominems who cruise the various threads looking for those violate one of their "prejudices, emotion[al] [buzzes] or special interests ... [to destroy the evil that lurks among humanity].The ad hominems are insecure in their points of view and cannot accept putting opinions (and that's all they are) out there for whatever they are worth. No. Once expressed, it is the ad hominem's way or no way. If the world were to be built by these, it would ultimately be a world of one. The ad hominem's over time devour one another so that in the end only one stands.Primarily rational people should think twice about getting into these discussions. It is a perequisite that one who walks down this path have a thick skin. For the egotists who police the way concoct a personal political correctness and embark on a crusade to punish those who deviate. There are some things in life that are worth the fight. But sports and, specifically, the Zip athletic program are not among them. Some of the most strident ad hominems are those who advocate fans support of Akron University athletics. But my question is. Who would want risk sitting in a gymnasium or stadium next to an ad hominem? At least on the Zip Nation people use aliases and are miles apart. Yes, it is the ad hominen's who start the fights and precipitate violence among fans at athletic contests. To be fair with the ad hominems, I observe there is a bit of the ad hominem in all human beings. It is the unchecked ad hominems who should worry all of us. These folks are very dangerous people! The great lament is that presumably the Zip Nation ad hominens, to one degree or another, have historical or current connections to a institution of higher learning. Apparently, Rational Discourse 101 was not one of the courses they took at Akron University or what other universities they may have attended. How many ad hominems are there in the Zip Nation? Hard to say. But it only takes one working with a vengeance to make dialogue utterly impossible. If there ever is a place for "political correctness," perhaps, this is it. Those of us who treasure exchange of points of view ought to wade into the morass and put heat on the consistent transgressors to scrap the ad hominem attaks and just express an opinion without reflecting on the character and mental qualities of those who see it differently.

good lord. now the fans are turning on each other. Should we just give everyone a knife, stick 'em on a island and the last one off is the true zips fan?
Balki, you are favorite ZN poster. but I guess [strong]disagreements are not necessarily a bad thing if you can still be civil about it afterwards. I remember goin'round with a few people in that soccer stadium thread, and I can't even remember who right now because I don't bother with an ounce of grudge just because people disagree with me.

Why do I feel as though I've just sat through a Western Cult lecture??? ;)

Captain, are you saying we may move some OL to DL? What do you consider "interesting?"Also, I had been checking rivals on a daily basis concerning Morgan Williams and his collegiate future. But after this news, maybe we should reserve the rest of our scholarships for JUCO DL's?We've already got Gary Pride verballed, and after watching the wideout from Florida cut up the Suckeyes as an all-purpose back (ala, poor-man's Reggie Bush), I'm pretty excited about the possibilities Pride could bring to an all-purpose back role. He's got blazing speed.

I hear some existing LB's, TE's and others may get a look on the D-line.If I were in charge...and there are numerous very good reasons I am not...I would give Merce Poindexter a long look at DE. We have Kasparek and Cruz at TE, and we really don't utilize the TE all that much. And Poindexter was a very good DE in high school. I saw him in a post-season All Star game on Fox Pittsburgh after he graduated HS, and he looked great. We'll have to wait until April to see what the staff is thinking. Also - I am told the only way Morgan Williams would end up at Akron is if his grades were sub par. In that case he would pay his own way for the first year and be eligible for a scholarship only if he passed his Freshman season. In that instance, "signing" him on Feb 6th wouldn't really cost us anything.

I will be short and clear:You have posted on this board 787 times to-date. You have had one post deleted by me. Quit playing the "victim." It was deleted because it misrepresented the status of players enrolled (at that time) @ U of A. You presented speculation as "fact." That has no place here. I take quite a bit of pride in the content & accuracy of the information provided on this board. We all do. If you read it here, you should, with 99.9% certainty, bank on it being valid. That is the case if my name is attached to it. If something is known to be untrue, it will be deleted. And, as demonstrated above, deletions are EXTREMELY rare. Testamony to the quality people participating on ZipsNation. If you don't like what I write, or do not find the information useful, here is some advice - do not read my posts. That, or create your own message board. If you wish to participate on this site, you play by our ridiculously simple rules that about 800 people don't seem to have a problem with.

Capt., I think you have done a great job with the site. It's a great place to talk Zips.I respect that it's your board and we play by your rules. However, if someone posts an inaccuracy, how about just posting what you believe to be the correct information rather than deleting a post...?

Thanks for the kind words. All I can say is post deletion is very, very rare. If a post is deleted on ZipsNation, there's a reason and it typically involves some history. I am going to lock this thread. I hope no one minds. If anyone has questions regarding the original topic, please start a new one and I'll address whatever you'd like.
