Balki Bartokomous
Damnit, Balki. I don't even know that broad. Well ... Ace said that Sally overheard Jessica talking to Michele about her conversation with Nikki, who at the time was talking on the phone with Bill, whom was in a room with Samantha while she was writing an email to Sara about her earlier conversation with Nicole and Teresa about Jane's party last week where Amanda was overheard telling Johnny that she had heard from her friend Mitch's girlfriend's cousin's friend's roommate Allison that Holly told Jess that she totally had a crush on you. Balki Bartokomous
That is correct, Balki Dick Bartokomous is my name. well ... actually it's Balkimortomous Dick Smythly Nor-Sarcaszijaian Bartokomous III, but who is counting.I'm just saying, that kid needs a mother, and it seems that this holly chick might have the sweater cows the child will need to blame later for turning him gay due to lack of breast feeding. Valpo Zip
It is almost 4 am and i can't believe i am reading this crap on the board. In the zone, are you serious ? how old are you ?She's better than us because she works for the athletic department ? well i have news for you, we all pay $ for the university and she gets paid from this money. That means that she works for us. not better than us.she can get athletes !!! out of our leagues !!! once again, how old are you ?Just answer this for me. If you were a leader of the Rowdies, and you had members who registered months ago, paid fees, attended meetings to practice cheering, and were standing in line 2 hours before the game... would you ask them to leave their seats to give it to your friend ? and what would you tell them ? Sorry guys, but she can get athletes !!! ???

Balki Bartokomous
inthezone, perhaps you are confusing her sexual appeal with that of ESPN's own slob, Chris "back back back" Berman.YOU'RE WITH ME LEATHER!!!
Valpo Zip
And yeah, about saying that the rowdies suck anyways... you remind me of kids who are like: you either play by my rules or i don't wanna play with you because you suck.we used to do that in elementary school.I remember Mack Rhoades praising us, coach Kest, coach Dambrot, most of the men's basketball players, and almost everybody on this board... they all said that the rowdies did a great job and that they are creating a new tradidtion... so when you and your friend say that we suck... that really doesn't take much away from us. Bleacher Bum
Might this be the girl standing directly over the Rowdies in the jean skirt? 'Cuz I hear she got some new Victoria's Secret underwear.
FearTheRoo
Before you guys keep ripping on this girl, maybe you should know that she's been an athletic department employee for going on 4 years, first at the ticket office and now as a secretary in the football office and she has more love, dedication, and closeness to zips athletics than any of you "Rowdies". So she wants to start her own student group because she and a number of others have been shut out for a group that struggles for members to being with. So what? Who's fault is that? Making fun of her appearance is also pretty low, especially considering that she's a pretty attractive girl and well out of any of your leagues. This entire thread is unbelievable!I am sick and embarrassed to read this SH*T!! Are you people aware that this is a PUBLIC forum? Are you aware that your rival schools tend to drop by and read this SH*T? Are you aware that you are giving them plenty of material to rip you apart for years to come?As for this girl that started this facebook account: Just as immature as when my 19 month-old throws a tantrum. The mature, adult way to handle this is try, no matter how difficult, to affect change through discussions. I am sure that if the Rowdies were as terrible as some of you contend AND enough of you became a bug in the ear of the AD, the AD would make changes. Either in leadership or policy or both. If you don't get what you want, you don't take your toys and go crying home. That doesn't work in real life.As for the players backing this, I would hope that star athletes from basketball would be wiser to stay neutral in this fight. Plus, I can go to Facebook or MySpace and create a bogus account saying I am Freakin' Ron Jeremy if I want with practically no way to verify it. But even if it is really them, then shame on them for such an unwise decision. My suggestion: Shut your pie-holes. Battle this behind closed doors. And quit disrespecting the teams, the fans, the alumni, the students and the University.
zen
I didn't even read most of this thread (just a half assed skim) because, honestly, unlike most people, drama doesn't thrill me. But I don't need to read the thread, because I am not going to speak about any group specifically. What it comes down to is one simple truth.... it has always been true, and will always be true. "Anti" groups are lame. Now, I am speaking in general, and not specifically about anyone or any group, because this seems to be a universal truth. All they ever do it lend credence and homage to the group they intend to protest, and always end up fading away in time because they have no true identity unto themselves except to be in protest or antagonistic to a group that actually does have a purpose and identity. Yep. I'm done. I'm clearly a better fan than all of you because I bought a Zippy beanie baby and paid my whole tuition bill last week. Oh...and did anyone else notice it took till the 8th game of the season for this to happen? I didnt see any of those kids at the other games (and they didnt even enforce the silly tshirt rule). The days of showing up 2 minutes before tip-off and getting whatever seat you want (especially for big games) are over. GO ZIPS, see you all tomorrow. skip-zip
After thinking about this for awhile, I'm still shaking my head thinking of a reason why someone from our own athletic department would start a group that is "anti" another group when the objective is to get everyone together to support our teams. It's extremely counter-productive, but not surprising considering some of the brilliant moves that we've witnessed this football and basketball season already. Zipitydoda
One more post on this asinine 'group.'*Never a big fan of Jeremy Sallee, hope coach catches wind of this bull and pushes him farther down the pine than his 4.8 minutes.*Dru Joyce: surprised, seems legitimately into the student support. One of the few that acknowledges the crew during game time. Really hope he joined the group without paying attention.*I'm glad the girl with her business hangin out for all to see is proud enough of the fact that a previous post about it from this board is quoted on her facebook (I now know you read this)*Just because you want to go to the "big" game and can't get the seats you want is a particularly stupid reason to start such a group. Notify me once those sections are full every week and you've showed up to every game having to sit at the top. Oh, and if it's the idea that you couldn't join that's pissing you off, 99% of us agree that not allowing sign ups is aggravating and stupid. What a waste of a post... It's Facebook people relax. If they wanna start their own group let them. Is it really affecting anyone else..? As for the players who joined or responded to the group: First off if someone had your name on a poster and was wearing a shirt with your picture on it, wouldn't you let them know that you appreciated the support hmm? Well thats all I see with Sallee's response to the group (rowdy zip aka smart a**). Secondly for all the players who joined the FACEBOOK group , they probably didn't even look at the group. They just clicked "join" and went on about their business. I know for a fact that they do appreciate the AK-Rowdies and EVERYONE else that supports Akron Basketball. Finally, i'll leave you with this.... FACEBOOK IS A DRUG. Stop taking ish so seriously.

seb61
Just wanna throw this out there, maybe give you something to chew on...but before you assume us "anti-rowdies" have only been to one game this season i just want you to go ahead and take into consideration we're probably not in the stands due to the fact a lot of us work the games and sadly can't sit down in those lovely blue seats that only seemed to fill up during the Can't game. It's not an issue of paying $10 and getting a shirt, but I'm not signing up and paying for something I'm not going to use. So just a clarification, we have been at all of the games and some away games. About the athletes who joined the group, they're students too and they're entitled to their own opinions and I think everyone is blowing everything out of proportion. I can understand having to work durong the games. That is fine. I understand you love and support Zips athletics too. So why are you guys "anti" other people who also support Zips athletics? I have noticed that the only reason given by the Facebook group is that the Rowdies are an embarassment to the Universtiy. Exactly how is that? How could the first official student cheering group at UA since I don't know how long possibly be an embarassment? I understand wanting to make your own group since you can't join an existing one (I thought about this on many occasions), but don't make it "anti" that group when everyone has the same common goals. The Anti-Rowdies are encouraging division between the students that support the teams, just as the teams are finally ready to make something of themselves. This is not the way to show support toward the Zips.
zipsbandman
The point of the matter is declaring war on fellow students and fans of the zips is suicide for a program already desperate for fan support. If she has all these ties in the department, why doesn't she help us out and tell the athletic department to fix some things because it is obvious things need to be fixed. Instead of helping the situation, it just escalates things. That's what frustrates me. The athletic program made the rules so do not attack the students who partake in the rowdies. IT'S NOT OUR FAULT. Go to the athletic director. Go to Yurickek. They are the dudes running this. The students have to be on the same side though...all the students.
