sgm405
I think at this point everyone just waits for me to start the post game thread! jkRandom thoughts from the upper level general admission seats...- Horrendous crowd...didn't even seem half full. Kind of depressing after the showing for Ball State. - Big game from Romeo with 23/6. That's the kind of game I expect for him to be the norm. - J. Wood solid once again - 12/6, very active around the basket. - Rough night shooting for both Dru and Ced...5 of 20 combined. - Dials has been playing much better as of late - 13 points tonight, 3 for 5 from three- 18-28 at the line...free throw shooting is what will be the eventual downfall of this team. - What was up with a little kid being selected to shoot the half court shot at halftime? First of all, what's he going to do with two airline tickets? Second of all, can we at least pick someone who can at least get the ball to the rim? It just seemed pointless. Let the kid shoot some free throws for a shirt or something and let a student shoot the half courter. - How strong has the MAC East been lately? It's going to be a heck of a finish. - Ugly win, but still a win...we'll have to play better than that on Saturday, that's for sure.
Valpo Zip
Ugly win. Absolutely. That's fine, you will always have nights when the shot is off. Good thing the big guys picked it in the paint. Rome and J-wood... Wow !The ugliest things: Free throws and the students/people of Akron. What were they doing on a Wednesday evening? skip-zip
Yes, Romeo should do that every night.Wood gets better every night. Remember, he's probably just getting into basketball shape again. And heck, with a name like that, if he doesn't make it in basketball, he surely has a future career in "adult entertainment".I've been telling people all season long.....when Dials scores in double digits, we are very, very hard to beat. When he scores like that, it's a huge bonus for us, and takes the pressure off of several other players, offensively. We'll pay for that foul shooting trouble eventually. They should have let that poor kid shoot from a little closer at halftime. I kept yelling for him to shoot from the end of the Kangaroo's nose. Nobody heard me. And, when did the AK-Rowdies start a junior division? Not a good showing at the end of the game against the press. And Toledo WILL press. This will be a tough stretch. Road game against Toledo with only 2 days off, and then the OU game on only 2 days off. Go Zips !!
BZip_08
"We'll pay for that foul shooting trouble eventually."We already did, it was called Nevada.Dials really played well tonight. I swear people forget that he's good, and a strong part of the team. He forces turnovers and somehow gets his short self up for rebounds against guys much bigger than him. Yeah sometimes he gets overambitious beyond the arc, but let's face it, if you had a wide open shot to the basket you'd take it too. There was some seriously good passing tonight. One that was memorable was Dials under the basket to Romeo (if I remember right). That's the kind of play that is demoralizing to the opponent, and so affective at home. Let's hope it works in Toledo.J. Wood is finally looking healthy, and boy have we missed him. He is such a physical presence on the court. The guy looks like he could be a football player, and the scrawny guys hate being matched up against him. Basically, he is awesome.'And I agree, Ugly win definitely described tonight. But a W is a W. BirdZip
Wasn't able to make it to the game, but if we struggled against the press again, that's two games in a row where we did. That needs fixed fast or we'll find ourselves as a 3 seed in the MAC.Free throws will definitely be the downfall of this team, especially come tournament time when the competition is close and we don't have a 10-15 point cushion going into the last 8 minutes. Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems like Romeo actually has been improving in that aspect. You can tell as he shoots if it's going in. he has a habit of a little hesitation at the top, and when he does that, he bricks. When he's smooth, he may not be money, but he's decent. RowdyZip
attendence note: I'm a numbers freak.Remaining THREE home games the Zips will need to average 4,800 attendence to beat the top average attendence in the last 14 years per THIS site. It was 1998. We averaged 3,620 fans. Zips finished 18-9 (12-6). This was the season before my freshman year...Alrighty! Nite all!

If you love numbers so much you should get a job as one of those obnoxious stat guys at baseball games."Well, Harry, the Indians are 50-1 over the last 3 years in home games played on Sunday afternoon when the temperature is over 93.5 degrees with a slight breeze blowing from right field to left field. The only team to beat them. These same New York Yankees that are here today. It's gonna be a wild one!"

AP will be around 5k. BG is on a Saturday and will be around 4.3k...assuming we don't have some nasty, bandwagon-killing losses that turn the public off (ie. losses to OU & AP).1998 was a great regular season for the Zips. But, K.e.n.t.'s Jose' Davis killed us in the first round of the MAC tourney...and Dan Hipsher never recovered.
