bigzipguy made a good point the other day about getting a stretch of wins after the Miami game in order for us to do well in the MAC Tournament. I agree completely and looking at tournament based sports (one loss and you're out) it appears to be very important as well. The old saying in the NFL is that teams who win in December win in January because of the momentum they build up. The NCAA selection committee bases a lot of at large bids on how well a team does late in the season. Here are the questions for discussion:1. Was the win Saturday enough for UofA to shake off the Miami loss?2. Do you fee we have good momentum right now or are things flat?3. Would a loss to the Dukes or Can't or both leave us flat going into the tournament?4. Are there other teams out there gaining momentum faster than UofA?5. Is the idea of momentum going into a tournament being important a bunch of nonsense?Let the discussion begin....

I think we look flat. Players seem to be going through the motions currently with the exception of Romeo and I don't think we have any momentum right now. I think we had a lot of momentum until the Toledo loss and since then we've been up and down.

Here's my thoughts...I don't think we've gotten dramatically better during the course of the season. At least not on a consistent basis. But I wouldn't base our progress on the way we played Saturday night since it was an emotional senior night, and we probably were looking past that game a bit. We've played good enough to win on the road in conference play, but we aren't doing the little things at the end of the game.I'd be pleasantly surprised if we can win all three of these road games coming up.I hope I'm wrong, but it seems that Can't is playing better than us right now. And Miami and Toledo seem very ready for the MAC Tournament as well. Will Nate Linhart's injury hurt us? A little bit.

Yes, Blueandgold, we do look tired... and with the exception of BG on Saturday, have you watched any of the other teams in this conference? They are also very tired and playing flat as well. I was surprised by Can't to see that typical man to man D switch in the 2nd quarter last week to zone?!? This is a natural progression that our team is not exclusive to, and, come tournament time the energy picks up - it always does! :thumb: Another interesting point to make is that in our losses (AND WE ONLY HAVE 6), our average margin of loss is 3.33. It's simple...we are always in the game whether we beat a team down or lose a close one. That is the sign of desire, it's the sign of a champion. Let's see what happens this week and go from there. I will be attending the game in Buffalo with a few other rowdies and will post thoughts at that point...

So if Akron would have made a better percentage of their free throws they would probably be undefeated is what I get from that!
Exactly. We are only about 20 points away for the whole season from being the only undefeated team in the country. It sucks, but there is nothing that can be done about it now, except to make sure we do better for the remaining games. I hear that Duquesne fouls teams alot, so that game might come down to free throws again and I don't like that.
