Tourney.Just thinking about all the comments about how soft the schedule was... Austin Peay was the regular season OVC champ as well...tho they did lose in the semis of the tourney. Valpo Zip
If Niagara, the team we beated on their home court by a zillion points, can win their conference, it makes me wonder why don't we move to a weaker conference and earn an automatic bid year in year out. skip-zip
skhorbotly....interesting point.Your theory seems logical until you get to the part where playing in a weaker conference means that you have to fill up your roster with weaker talent. But sure. I'd love to be playing in their conference right now, with our talent.

It sounds like a good idea at first, but our recruiting would decline because it it much harder to attract good players to play in bad conferences. Plus we would get less money. Plus we would get less money.Another problem is once you get to the NCAA tournament you end up being a 15 or 16 seed and get trounced in the first round.Being in a tougher conference with more talent prepares you for possibly winning a few games in the NCAA tournament. After all its nice to get there, but I want the Zips to get there and WIN at least a few games! Captain Kangaroo
it makes me wonder why don't we move to a weaker conference and earn an automatic bid year in year out. The MAC isn't exactly the ACC. Get past the top 5 teams and there's a huge drop off. If K.e.n.t can win the MAC with regularity, there's no reason we can't. If I had to watch Binghamton-level basketball for a full season I'd kill myself. And that says a lot coming from someone who sat through Coleman Crawford and Hipsher. Valpo Zip
The MAC isn't exactly the ACC. I wouldn't be complaining if it was. The ACC has multiple bids every year.My point is that while the MAC is tougher than Mid Con, OVC, and the MAAC, it receives the same number of bids. skip-zip
We all know that our out-of-conference schedule was weak. In fact, it was one of the weakest in the country. However, it is nice to see that not all of them were practice games. There was actually a couple of other pretty decent teams in there besides Nevada. It really is hard to imagine that our FIRST game of the season will end up being the one that was the most costly in the end. If we had beaten UA-Little Rock, we would have had a chance to play in another game that would have either given us a chance to beat a good team, or at least raised our SOS and RPI.
