Starting QB?

I actually would not be surprised to see Jacquemain emerge out of all of this. He's the only one of the three that is solid in all areas. Not spectacular at anything, but solid, a lot like Getsy.Jackson- Arm strength- Excellent Mobility- Excellent Intelligence- Average Work Ethic- Bad Leadership- HorribleHakes- Arm strength- Good Mobility- Average Intelligence- Below Average Work Ethic- Good Leadership- AverageJacquemain- Arm Strength- Average Mobility- Good Intelligence- Good Worth Ethic- Good Leadership- GoodDon't know much about Hakes leadership qualities, so that was just a guess, but which combination would you take? Like I said before, if Jackson can get his act together on the two things that he does have control over and can change, he's the guy. If not, he won't last long.

Didn't Hakes graduate HS a semester early to get a jump on preparing for our QB job? To me, that grades him high on intelligence and leadership.I saw Jacquemain goofing around on the sidelines at the Toledo game. He has some work to do to erase that image from my mind. I couldn't see grading him "good" on leadership at this time.I look forward to seeing all three this spring. I only know bits and bites at this time.

CK, I was meaning more on the field intelligence, such as understanding reads, the concepts of an offense, etc, not necessarily intelligence in the classroom. I know Hakes is a very good student, but from what I've heard and seen, struggles with making his reads and understanding who should be open and where. That's a very important and often overlooked aspect in evaluating a quarterback..... it doesn't matter if you can throw the ball 100 yards on a rope if you don't know where to go with it.As for Jacquemain, thats disappointing that you saw him goofing around on the sidelines during that important of a game, but I think everyone's been guilty of that at one time or another as an underclassman who knows he's not getting in the game. From what I've heard he's a true competitor who takes charge in the huddle and at the line.... something we're going to need with so many young guys up front next season.I'll be interested to see the outcome of this battle as well.... we will see who emerges. I'd put the good money on Jackson but I will not be as shocked as some if Jacquemain emerges.

I hadn't heard that, I hope thats not the case, he needs the spring. I've been on some extended business and have been out of the Akron area for quite some time here. I'll see what I can find out but others around campus or with some connections like CK could probably find out faster.

First of all, intelligence and leadership are two completely different qualities. The scoop I'm hearing so far is that they really want Hakes to emerge as the starter because they think he has the most potential of all three, but they want to keep it as an open competition at this point.

I just googled his name and rivals.com...Here's the LinkJust watch that first video and tell me he's doesn't have a cannon. It also shows he's got great mobility.I dunno Mike Rasor's Article on him when he first got here had me pumped up about him and after seeing those highlights a couple times I couldn't wait to see him running the offense, but hey thats just me.

Keep in mind that Hakes played Texas CATHOLIC SCHOOL football.... and keep in mind that we're not talking about Catholic schools in Ohio.... Catholic schools are no where close to being the powerhouses down in Texas. There's a reason he came to Akron with those two "state titles".I'm just going off what current players have told me and what I've seen at scrimmages and the times I've made it out to practice. Hakes has a lot of work to do if he's going to be the guy. But then again.... so do the other two. It's a wide open race, as JD has already stated.

 the comment about parochial schools in TEXAS is correct...due to the way its set up down there the parochial schools have no advantage over the public schools so the best athletes go to the public schools...thats where the best competion is...unlike here where st eds,st iggies st xavier etc etc can"buy" kids...hakes was not playing against the best TEXAS competion...the concern here is that if Jackson gets second chair he could become a cancer given some of his antics on the sidelines...if JD is recruiting questionable characters to come here he is going to have a LOT of problems with morale and cohesion...

I don't know if you guys have been down to Texas but the Private School League is comparable to Division-2 ball in Ohio. They've had some pretty good players come out of there in the past few years...Cal: RB Justin ForsettMiami: WR Lance Leggett, OL Ian SymonetteAnd a QB from Episcipal School of Dallas made the Elite 11 this year, I would say his league isn't too shabby.Either way this is dumb to speculate right now, we all just need to let the spring unfold and it should answer our questions.

If im not mistaken. C.Jackson has a boot on his foot an has been seen walking with crutches. How can we wait to see how things unfold in spring ball if he doesnt even play. Im thinking we will have to wait until camp starts in the summer for the real QB battle to start, as long as they all can stay healthy.
