Miami Recruit

I guess this puts a complete end to the discussion on where Andrew Johnson is transferring. CK was right as usual and the folks a Youngstown were wrong. From gozips.comWhen the second unit took the field, running back Andrew Johnson found a seam on the first play and out-ran the defense virtually untouched for a 65-yard score. Johnson will have to sit out next fall as he transferred from the University of Miami this semester. Johnson is a Pittsburgh, Pa., native (Penn Hills HS) and will have one year remaining after next fall.

Sounds like we've got a Tebow and Leak situation at QB."In 11-on-11 drills, Jackson showed repeatedly he has the athleticism to get large chunks of yards each time he runs with the ball.""Hakes, too, showed the ability to plow over a defender. He absolutely trucked linebacker Michael Alphonse on one play. Hakes also showed a little more consistency throwing the ball."The only difference here is that they are alot closer in age (RS-SO and RS-FR)... which also causes a major dilemma, because I think whomever loses the job will likely transfer or move positions (hopefully the ladder of the two). Either way we should be better off than we were last year at QB.BCS in 2008!!!

If we think this years RB situation is tough because we have so many talented RB, wait until next year when we add this guy to the mix, because if im not mistaken none of our RB this year will be seniors ( or at least none of them that have a chance of helping out alot)Next Year:KennedyAllenWilliamsReedJohnsonWalkerMorris (RFR from Columbus)Also expect alot out of Stephon Fuqua (JR) from Cleveland Glenville. This guy is a very good athlete with very very good speed, if he had played football for 4 years while at glenville (he only played 1) I think he ends up playing at a Major college, and not mid major. Im glad he ended up here though.

What you've got to realize and what Rasor should've realized is that Hakes "trucking" Alphonse was most likely due to the fact that Hakes had a red jersey on and Alphonse slowed up to tag off so as not to get his ass chewed by coaches, when Hakes then decided to be a hero and lower his shoulder on him. Sorry, Hakes may turn into a good QB, but his game is not going to be trucking anybody like Tim Tebow.

InTheZone,I pretty sure you are mis-informed, none of the QB's are wearing red jersey's this Spring. Hence Carlton Jackson getting hit and unable to return to finish his drive, as mentioned in the other article. I have some friends on the team and they said that Hakes is running like Tebow.

I haven't been out to practice yet this spring, but if the QB's aren't wearing red jerseys for practice than that's just stupid. That's unheard of in college football to allow open shots on the QB's, so I doubt that's true. And all 200 lbs of Sean Hakes is not going to run over a 245 lb LB. That's not his game and never will be.

I understand your point, but disagree. We have 3 QB's in the spring who have a combined 5(?) D1A snaps under their belt. I think Jackson has all 5. These guys need to prove, amongst many other things, that they can take a lick. Or, deliver one. Red "Don't hit me" shirts are for the upper-classmen QB's. That's not our situation.

I would agree with you if it were just in scrimmages, but certainly not for all the practices. You've followed enough football to know how beat up QB's get during the course of a season, the injuries that can occur, and that's just having open season one time a week or less. If JD were to open up the QB's every single day of practice we wouldn't have one left after two weeks. If he has done this it serves him right that he only had one QB on Thursday. Pretty soon Jabari Arthur is gonna be taking snaps.

It's true man they haven't been wearing the jersey's at all. Otherwise it would have been mentioned that they were wearing the red jerseys. THese QB's need to get used to contact since none of them have really played in a game, it'll also get them the respect of the team. I hate when QB's wear those jerseys, if you strap on those pads and step onto a field you better be able to take a hit just like any other player. This is not a ssport for people who don't enjoy contact.

And if we run an option offense the QB's will be getting hit a lot during the season. They better be toughened up now and get used to it.
