Captain Kangaroo
Looks like K.e.n.t. is going to finally institute a donation fee for their lower-reserved seating. And it looks like the Zips will raise theirs this season from $500.00 per seat to $750 per seat. Great Hoogly MoogleyIf there is a waiting list for lower-reserved seating then I guess you've got to raise the price of admission? Better be a damn good home schedule in 2007-8. It is a shame that those who have paid the prime $$ and sat through Derrick Tarver and Bryan Hipsher are getting milked now that the team is good, but that's the way it goes. GoZips88
"We'll see how this goes, and we'll see if it becomes a feasible way to finance renovation of the M.A.C. Center ... At the same time, it's going to enable our program to stay competitive."Renovate the M.A.C. Center ??? Way to think big Can't!

skip-zip
We can only hope this line of thinking stays this way for Can't.They are looking at renovating their current "high school" gym. We are building new facilities. This should further separate us from them.
Akron1
Great keep pricing people out. Make it more expensive so the next time a big school comes in we have about 2,000 fans in the JAR. Didn't The U learn anything from last year? When they ran promos on tickets, they sold more WARM Pepsi's, cold pizza and a ton of merchandise. I would think that they would wait until the Zips won the MAC before hammering us loyal patrons. Can't wait to have to choose between watching the Browns play or using my season tickets to go and see my Zips beat Hiram College or some other Div. IV team they bring in this year. I'm a season ticket holder since 1995, and feeling a little pinched (if this is true). Looks like I'll have a tough decision to make. Captain Kangaroo
K.e.n.t Fan responds to the $500.00 fee. Most don't seem to mind. They shouldn't. They're probably the highest level basketball program that, to date, didn't have such fees for their better seats.
Dr Z
If Can't paid me $500 I would think about watching them....oh wait, the fans have to pay! Forget it.
gozips19
thanks for the link cap. i am going to echo some of the thoughts on their board that i agree with. many people on this forum talk about what akron and the mac needs to do to get to that next level be it tops in the mac or bolting to a new conference. i hate to break it to everyone but the only way the university is going to do that is by bringing in more revenue. all of the bigger schools do this. if you are ok with where the school is at than that's fine but please do not complain about how ticket prices went up or how no one will show. donors who have buying those seats for the past 20 years will shell out more just to have them (even if they don't show for the game) and for those who have seats down there, either pony up or move back. it's that simple. sometimes progress hurts some but if done the right way it will benefit all involved.
