Captain Kangaroo Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 All that hype and NIU is still going to lose Joe Novak is a great coach. His teams are consistently in the hunt for MAC championships. In 2003 he beat Maryland (#24), Alabama and Iowa State to start the season.Iowa lost 7 of their final 9 games in 2006. If you think a crappy Iowa team blows-out a Novak-coached team on a neutral site, you're nuts. Quote
skip-zip Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 This "neutral site" comment poses an interesting question for discussion....Who gets more fans to this game? The Iowa team that is in the Big Ten and is only about 3 hours away? Or NIU, which is only a MAC team, but has the game virtually in their own back yard? Now, put Akron into the picture. If we were playing a game at Cleveland Stadium against a Big Ten team from a neighboring state that was only a 3-hour drive away, who do you think would have more fans? For instance, let's imagine that Penn State's campus was only 3 hours away. Just a curiosity. Quote
Dr Z Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Penn State fills a 100,000+ stadium. What do you think? Quote
