TXZipFan
Here are the reasons that I don't really blame either QB for their lack of performance on Saturday.1. The offensive strategy is elementary and I don't really feel like the coaches called any plays to make a big play or change the game. (HB pass doesn't count thats just a trick play, not part of a scheme)2. The O-Line could not keep the heat off either one of these in-experienced QB's3. There was no run threat to keep the defense honest 4. We really miss Harvey and Lindsey, Fuqua and Williams are not talented enough to be Div. 1 starting recievers, and Harvey and Lindsey were some of the most talented in the MACAll in All:I do feel like Jacquemain performed better (he looked calmer) but he is more of a role player rather than a playmaker. There has always been alot of talk about Jackson being more mobile or a Mike Vick type but he's hasn't shown me any sign of that. He plays quick but in the few run attemots he had he really didn't produce anything. I'm pretty numb to both of them at this point and really don't look forward to watching these two start for the next few years. Hopefully Rodgers isn't all hype like these two seem to be. Dr Z
Let's not be too quick to judge QB talent playing against OSU playing AT Columbus.I agree that the game calling left a lot to be desired, and didn't help the QB much.As for the offensive line, I thought they played decent. Nobody looked as overwhelmed as #72 looked last year.I'm not on board with the Harvey and Lindsey comments either. We will be fine at WR with some time. TXZipFan
Dr.Z- so your telling me that you don't think it's significant drop-off in the level of talent at that position moving from Harvey and Lindsey to Fuqua and Williams?I'm just saying losing them really put both QB's behind the eight ball per say. skip-zip
WOW...Harvey and Lindsay were HUGE loses !! And the offensive line's inability to keep Buckeye defenders out of the backfield was the entire difference in the game yesterday.
akronad
We need to quit talking about we use to have, because they are not coming back. We need to be talking about we have and what we will have for the future.
AZipsCrazy
We need to quit talking about we use to have, because they are not coming back. We need to be talking about we have and what we will have for the future.I completely agree... but thats not to say im happy or it'll make me feel better to do so. I don't like what I see out there from our offense, this "new offense" makes us look like a h.s. team. How many collegiate teams do you see turning to the sideline to get the call? If it was somewhat effective I prolly wouldn't complain, but it's terrible!!!
Captain Kangaroo
4. We really miss Harvey and Lindsey, Fuqua and Williams are not talented enough to be Div. 1 starting recievers, and Harvey and Lindsey were some of the most talented in the MAC There's no doubt we missed Harvey. Many time last season he WAS our offense. Lindsay? I know JD loved him. But I never saw all that much in him. Bad routes, suspect hands. Undersized.I hold out some hope for Fuqua, if they'll let him run a route deeper than 5 yards.
RACER
neither qb is to blame.we have no running game, and the play calling was terrible.we have cj why not roll him out and/or do some bootlegs.the two times he faked the dive and ran he at least got some yards.i think cj would do ok as our qb if the staff would call plays to use him right.i do realize this is the best defense we will face all year, but at the same time our play calling was not good either. No, I'm saying we will be fine. Year after year JD produces WRs. Have faith. No excuses.
skip-zip
Captain Kangaroo, I am also holding out hope for Fuqua. I've seen him in practice many times, and we looks great. However, I totally disagree with your assessment that Lindsay is not a great loss. He was probably our only WR last year who worked across the middle of the field effectively. And he would have taken a lot of pressure off of Jabari.Sure, he dropped some passes, but so did the best receiver we have right now. And I'd say he ended up developing quite well. Class of 82
We need the O-line to establish itself and get a running game going. And that needs to happen on a consistent basis. We have the backs who can get it done if the O-line gets its job done.Besides, if we can run the ball, I think it makes life a lot easier for whoever winds up getting the most snaps at QB. I also think you open things up for Arthur and Fuqua if opposing safeties have to worry about a running threat.Anyway, my 2 cents.
jutang403
We played a real tough opponent, and its no suprise that our offense had problems. But I thought we gave it a good run for a little.
