Lil Thriller Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Hello everyone. My name is Bill and I am a Sophomore at the University of Akron. For my Entrepreneurship class I was given the task to start a business. I decided to sell UA shot glasses. I currently have three different choices; and they are... ZIP ONE DOWN, SHOOT THE ROO (both of these are available in both blue and gold font) and lastly K S Ucks. with the K S U in blue and the cks in gold. I am selling them for the very competitive rate of 1 for $5 and 2 for $9. They WILL be available at the game VS. K S U this Sat. at the Rubber Bowl. Any questions feel free to email me at wgd1@uakron.edu Quote
3rd&twenty Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 At the bowl or tailgate city? Quote
zen Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 shot glasses eh?hmm... limited market, unless you count the novelty aspect.I guess there was a nice product niche though eh? Can't get shot glasses at the bookstore. LOL Quote
Buckzip Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 They should be beer mugs. We football fans aren't sophisticated enough for shots.Ok, well I am speaking for myself. Quote
jeaglet1 Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 I dont claim to know much, but can you sell the glasses without permission from the universities? Especially Can't State...? Quote
zen Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 I dont claim to know much, but can you sell the glasses without permission from the universities? Especially Can't State...? Since it's for a class, isn't it considered "fair use"? Quote
Lil Thriller Posted September 21, 2007 Author Report Posted September 21, 2007 I will be around the parking lots at the Rubber Bowl. I'm not exactly sure where tailgate city is... as far as it being legal, I think it would be okay since it's for a class. I don't need Can't's permission because I'm using anything that's licensed by them. But just to cover myself with the selling of them I'll probably just ask for "donations" of 1 for $5 2 for $9. suziq Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 Great idea! I collect shot glasses, and was at the bookstore over labor day while in OH for the Patriot Bowl. I was disappointed to see that they still only have the clear glass with the university logo available. While very nice, it wouldn't show up well in my shotglass case. Wish I weren't so far away, I would buy one for sure. Good luck with your enterprise. How about a Fear The Roo? Quote
bobbyake Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 Hey!!!!!!!!! I'm in the same class with the guy selling these. Everything about the shot glasses is legal because he's not using anything that is trademarked. Quote

Everything about the shot glasses is legal because he's not using anything that is trademarked.I did see this on the Can't state web page..."K.e.n.t State University, K.e.n.t. State and K.S.U. are registered trademarks and may not be used without permission. ©Copyright 2007 K.e.n.t State University"I would just hate to see anyone catch some crap over a class project, thats all. bobbyake Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 I think K S Ucks is fair game unless the UA already has that trademarked. Quote

Kansas State? Hello? Quote

If you decide to expand the line, I would be interested in a Wagon Wheel keychain or fridge magnet Quote

GP1 Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 Beware washing the shot glasses. The letters peel off as soon as they get wet. This is too funny. Wouldn't a better alternative be to have Georgia-Pacific print up UofA Dixie cups in the shape of a shot glass so they could be thrown away after one use? Quote
Lil Thriller Posted September 24, 2007 Author Report Posted September 24, 2007 Beware washing the shot glasses. The letters peel off as soon as they get wet. It has come to my attention that some of the letters are coming off in the dishwasher. I apologize for this. I was informed by the business that made the letters that they would be fine. I am not out to take advantage of any of you or to sell a cheap product. If you had any issues with letters falling off, please bring me the defected glass, and I will replace it! thanks again. Also, any new ideas you would like to see on a shot glass? let me know!! Quote
