Captain Kangaroo
Here is an update on JUCO WR Marquis Avery: Click for UpdateI wish he'd look at what numbers Jabari put up last year in Akron with B-A-D QB play and envision what he could do. He'd be our feature WR from Day #1?Look at David Harvey too.I hope we get him because we sorely need him. But I wonder if, the longer he waits, the better his chances that the Zips pull the offer in favor of a WR who really wants it. Sometimes the waiting game works (for the player)...and sometimes it can backfire.Regardless -- If we want to get back to a bowl game...and actually WIN a bowl game...we need players of his caliber. skip-zip
I agree that playing right away would be an incentive for a guy like this, but trying to sell him the idea that we have guys who can consistently get him the ball is challenge. The fact that Jabari put up the numbers he did last year without really ever having an effective quarterback is really a miracle.
Z.I.P.
I agree that playing right away would be an incentive for a guy like this, but trying to sell him the idea that we have guys who can consistently get him the ball is challenge. The fact that Jabari put up the numbers he did last year without really ever having an effective quarterback is really a miracle. This is a VERY strange story and situation. If he's truly one of the best JC receivers in the nation -- and that position is as coveted as one would presume -- then what is he doing taking recruiting visits only to Akron and Stonybrook (a name the author can't even spell correctly, much less point to on a map)? San Jose State has pathetic -- largely non-existent facilities. It could be a dangerous game of chicken if Akron makes a threat of 'sign now or we'll sign someone else'. But, only if the possibility of a BCS school offering him is serious.
GP1
I'll give you guys four good reasons this four star player should sign at UofA.1. Antonio Bryant2. Larry Fitzgerald3. Dom Hixson4. JA12Anywhere JD goes, WRs land in the NFL...or in JA12's case, he will have a shot.
