CantonBobcat Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 Below are the Points-in-the-Paint shot selection diagrams from a recent OU home game. Can you pick which is Leon and which is Bubba?I wish he was shooting at the same basket Leon was....With the way he has been shooting lately (supposedly his back is in pretty bad shape...if TOS was halfway intelligent he would play his freshman version of Bubba for 10-12 minutes a game instead...) Zippy fans are going to have a field day with him, probably just like last year's blizzard performance. On the plus side, he has elevated his defensive game and is 2nd on the team in assists this year. I'd even call him a semi-"floor general." See you at the JAR for the annual "Ohio Plays Like Crap on the Road, Especially at Akron, I can't believe I wasted my money to see this crap" game. I wonder if that guy who was unloading tickets in front of the JAR last year will be there on Thursday night? Somehow I walked away with a ticket and $20 bucks richer...even the scalpers can't do basic math in Akron. Go 'Cats. Quote
skip-zip Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 I'm not sure I would have had any clue if you had not put the faces on there. From what I hear, this is essentially why they lost the BG game. I guess the inside game was working, but Bubba kept launching (and missing) shots from way beyound the arc.Tillman and Willams have to be getting frustrated with him by now. Quote

It wasn't just Bubba. No one showed up. Plus OU has Tim O'Shea, which evens every game out Quote
skip-zip Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 If you look at Bubba's stats, he's only shooting 37% from the field, and 32% from 3-point range. The only thing that looks impressive about his numbers is that he has only turned the ball over 27 times. But, if you're launching shots all night, you probably wouldn't have too many turnovers. If I were an opposing coach, I'd let a guy like this shoot all night, and clamp down on their inside game, if he is only going to make 1 out of every 3 or 1 out of every 4 3-point shots. Quote

I know they don't techincally count towards that particular statistic, but they might as well. It's funny to watch OU fans starting to turn on Bubba. They're complaining of almost all the same things we warned them about when he left. Ohh, btwBubba has 1 point! Quote

skip-zip Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 OZoner... The commentary as to what caused that loss for OU came from an on-line story that someone posted on here. But even without that, the stats from the BG game speak for themselves.Williams - 6 of 7 from the field.Bubba - 4 of 15 from the field, 3 of 10 from 3-point range, and 4 turnovers. Quote
OZoner Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 Be that as it may, again, he hit big shots late that kept us in the game. He was the only guard trying to do anything on offense. I put that loss on the coaching, Hester, Tillman, and Allen, in that order. Quote

So what did he start off...0-11? Keep shooting and The Law of Averages will eventually kick in. Too bad his 0-11 start was what put OU in the situation to begin with.As my friend kept yelling at The Q last March, during another one of Bubba's epic displays of ...ummm...."marksmanship": "Keep Shooting, Bubba!!!!!!!!!"
