KentZip
I saw Larry Dawson didn't catch on anywhere either.Plus a couple of kids out of Strongsville (D. J. Woods and another one I can't recall) and a linebacker out of Hudson (Niam) who seemed to have all of the tools. It is always interesting to look at the roster when it is published to see if any of these athletes caught on as walk-ons. Unless the Captain has some insight????? But from my experience w/ Rivals and Scouts, I'd be willing to bet my money that he never actually received an official scholarship offer from either Akron or Cincy. However, I'm sure he'll be offered a chance to walk-on at a few schools; maybe earn a scholarship in another 2 years. Maybe not.

I know a kid who plays in the same league as Carlin and went on a few visits to school ( unofficial) with him and akron was one of the schools. The kid can go to a large number of bigger schools for track, so im guessing that is what he is doing....waitin to see who offers for track. One player who we were looking at an liked though, Dom Britt from trotwood madison did not commit to anyone yet, and he was high on akron. it will be interesting to see who decided to walk on and where. Weird, because he had offers from quite a few majors. Although Scouts still shows Jarvis Givins going to Akron this year
gozips19
a theory with Britt is that he's waiting to see what Pryor does. assuming Pryor signs with either OSU or PSU I'd think he'd end up at Michigan. Two of his high school teammates changed their verbals and signed with MU and Britt did go on an official a week ago. If for some reason Pryor signs with MU then Akron could be back in play. Big Zip
Speaking of local kids I was hoping we'd go after -- Bart Tanski from Mentor is going to Bowling Green as a walk on. Surely hope our confidence in the QB position didn't stop him from coming here or him beating us later at BG.
RACER
jd must think the rogers is the man.i think thats i risky move to sign a high qb.i still think he should have gone after a jc-qb.jd sees the kids in practive every day so i assume rogers is the starter next year.i just dont see either cj improving that much.maybe going trhough spring ball we also need to decide who the back qb is.i feel good about the ol,and rb.not so sure about wr,and qb though.i think alott depends on harvey and lindey though. Captain Kangaroo
I just dont see either cj improving that much.CJ7 is no longer a Zip. But I do agree...I don't see him improving, regardless of where he ends up.I think alot depends on harvey and lindey though. If it does, we are in a world of hurt. No one is banking on them. That's why we signed the JUCO guys. They are the key to the WR position this year. That, and a QB that can get them the ball.

ZachTheZip
It's good to keep grabbing local guys. Devoe Torrence, Will Fleming, and Larry Dawson were all local high school football stars last year. If nothing else, it buys us some additional local coverage, but I think they will all have a good impact on the team.Every year, there are dozens of top national recruits playing only minutes away from campus. Just picking up one or two of them a year would elevate the program quite a bit.

Captain Kangaroo
That's a good catch on the roster. I know that Larry Dawson was VERY highly thought of at the beginning of his senior HS year. Rather than take an early Zips offer, it seems he got some bad advice and waited for something better to come along. He had a pedestrian senior year, and the "better" offers never materialized...and the ones that were on the table ended up going to other players.I'm guessing Dawson is walking on. If he gets back to where he was his Junior HS year, he'll earn a scholarship eventually. Beyond athletics, he is apparently a VERY bright kid too. I hope he pans-out.
