Officially the three-seed!

Recommended Posts

I've thought for awhile now that the #3 is the best place to be (as long as Can't is #1). This gives us a good quarterfinal draw, and a matchup with WMU in the semis. And.....a possible Can't/Akron Final....something THAT HAS NEVER HAPPENED. It would be a great day for the MAC, and a great day for Akron and Can't basketball fans. Here we go..it will be an exciting week

WMU loses, and Can't wins, along with us beating Ohio to set up the top three seeds. Can't is #1, no matter what happens, WMU is a lock for the #2, and Akron is the #3.We have Ohio, Miami, and Central all battling the #4, and I hope Central gets it.
... and we've done our part to help Ohio and Miami struggle for that 4 seed! I haven't looked at the OU/Sweaters/CMU situation - anyone care to break down how things could shake out with one game to play? Frenchy just mentioned in post-game that if Ohio wins at home on Sunday, they get the 4th seed. No mention of what happens if they lose ...

French said if OU wins on Sunday they get the 4 seed. At first I thought, I would rather play CMU in the 3/6 game. Then I figured we beat Miami and OU twice and lost to CMU this year. Whoever it is, it is. Just get 3 in a row Zips!
MU, OU and CMU all have the same record. If Miami beats BGSU and OU knocks off Buffalo, OU is the four, Miami is the five and CMU is the six (MU and OU both beat CMU this year). If I had my prefernce, I'd rather see it shake out that way and have all of tough East foes on one side away from us. While CMU did beat us it was at their place and I think we'd like another shot at them. I'd rather not play a team three times unless its the championship. Plus Western is no pushover. Since we're guaranteed the three seed, any way it works out is fine. At least we have the bye and are away from Can't so we can just have fun beating them with no tournament implications on the line. Here's to being the MAC East Co-champs!

This is from Elton's MAC Report on how the 4th-5th-6th seeds (and maybe 7th-8th) breakdownCMU would need a win at home over Toledo combined with Miami and Ohio losses. Miami (home to Bowling Green), needs a win and an Ohio loss. Ohio (home to Buffalo) just needs to win.In a worst-case scenario, if those three teams plus Bowling Green (13-15, 7-8) and Eastern Michigan (12-16, 7-8) all wind up 8-8 to end the season, the MAC will need an abacus to break a five-way tiebreaker for the No. 4 seed.http://blog.cleveland.com/sports/2008/03/m...insider_10.html
