Ever hear of Davanzo Tate? No? Well, he’s a cornerback who plays (well, now it’s played) at Akron. Yesterday, he had no chance of even being invited to a training camp. Today, he’s likely a mid to late round pick. Want to know why? Check out his pro day numbers:Vertical Jump: 40 inchesBroad Jump: 11 feet40 Yard Dash: 4.26Yeah. That’s incredible. Tate, a transfer from West Virginia who wasn’t invited to the combine, is supposedly a “high-character” kid and a hard worker. He probably went from unknown to 7th rounder. I will officially bestow upon him the title of “Workout Warrior“, because he is one.

WOW! Good luck to him in the draft. It would be cool for the browns to pick him up. I don't like that Cribbs is on the Browns with no other Akron players. I want another Akron player. Would be cool to see him.

These numbers were in the paper a couple of weeks ago. If I recall, the 40-yard time was a "range" that could have possibly been as low as around the 4.3 area. A number of people there came up with different numbers, if I remember correctly. Tell me what you guys are seeing on this. Lets be honest, just about any NFL team would use a 1st round pick if they had someone available that was running a true and consistent 4.26.....don't you think? Either way, this appears to be a case where someone's postseason work has really paid off. Scouts certainly will rely on more factors than just the running/jumping numbers, but it appears as if he has raised his stock significantly. From what I hear, he also has something else going for him in that he lead the nation in passes broken up? He was certainly a solid corner for us for a few years, and I wish him luck. Honestly, I thought maybe Corner had a better chance than Tate to make it to the NFL. But, it looks like I will be wrong.

that does not surprise me.i think our db's played well this year.we had no pass rush, and a offense that was 3 and out alott.i dont care how good a db you are. eventually you will get beat if you are left out on the field play after play.
