More Skeletons in OSU's closet

Well if you have been watching/listening to ESPN on the Alamo Bowl game last night, there is trouble in Tinsel Town (OSU) with an athletic "Booster". I am very close to this situation and know first hand about a lot of the crap that went on, although i am not any way shape or form a part of it. It is just plain ugly. Tressel and Geiger maight not survive this one.

For those of you interested , and know how to contact me, and want the skinny, you know what to do. :D

-BZ- appearantly you don't follow the Suckeyes all that close if you have to ask Zips fans the "skinny" on the Pig Ten's cheatingest team.

Here's the "skinny": Coach James Tressel LIED. He LIED about Maurice "I had $5,00 stolen out of my 'borrowed' shiny new Chevy" Claret. He LIED about Troy "I didn't get no stinking pay off from a booster" Smith. He LIED about even knowing the a fore mentioned booster. Tressel LIED, LIED, LIED.

Now another blind mouse, Andy "see no evil" Geiger, the soon to be former Athletic Director, is trying to fall on the sword to save the Suckeyes hallowed reputation.

Only, the NCAA and the national press are going to hold the OSU admistration's collective paws (Suckeyes don't have real feet) to the fire. Thus both the spineless AD and the knowingly cheating head foosbal coach are headed out the door leaving a trail of broken hearts, and broken spirits in their wake.

Or, -BZ- haven't you read or heard anything on ESPN? Try reading Columbus's favorite news rag the Pisspatch.

Oh, and DEATH threats made against former Suckeye QB and now ESPN color analyst Herb Kirkstreet or is it Kirk Herbstreet (I can never tell them apart) and his family. Not to mention death threats against the academic advisor who admitted helping a foosbal player with his "grades". Or the foosbal players now admitting that, "sure cheating is occurring, doesn't every one cheat?". Or the foosball player who was convicted of drunk driving four times and still kicks for the Suckeyes. The list goes on and on like my Johnson.

Then again, there is the small baskeet brawl scandal.

Actually Zip dude-Mr Friendly, everything you said, I already know, and alot more than that.

However, when someone says they have inside info, I assume they know alot more.

As for suckeyes, it's amazing how so many people here don't feel it is ok to be fans of 2 teams. I watch, and follow OSU very closely, but I also went to 3 Zip games this year, and follow them too. Iam an Akron Alum.

They aren't in the same conference. So it doesn't matter.

Stop being suck a jerkoff.

First off ... CAP'N 'ROO, with all due respect, we need to eliminate "guest" posts.

On this topic we have one "guest" who may or may not be -BZ-. That poster impugns -BZ- by admitting to lying on the board. I'll explain later in this post.

On the other hand we have another "guest" making a totally cool remark ... about the holiday season and Buckeyes roasting on an open fire. Whether you are a Suckeye (my name for them) fan or not, it is a totally cool slam.

Obviously these two "guests" are two different people or we have a skitzo in the joint.

Guest #2 ... way cool.

Guest #1 ... the rest of this post is for you. You freaking LIAR. You posted like you were clueless about what is happening in Suckeyeville. That was a disception, a lie if you will. Then you boast that you know more about what is happening with the Suckettes than does ZIP DUDE. At least Zip Dude signs his name to his comments.

Worst, you "claim" to be an Akron alum who went to three (count them, one, two, three) Zips home football games. You want a medal? You skink. At the very least as an alum you need to be a season ticket holder.

I'll bet my skivvies that you own more Suckeye paraphernalia than you do Zips gear. Worse, you are one of those morons who wears Suckeye crap to Zips games. You loser skink.

I laugh at your pathetic attempt to beat your sunken chest about how much inside info you have on the Suckeyes. If you are so insider knowledgeable as to wrong doings in Suckeyeville that makes you an accessory. You skink.

Slide on out of here on your scaly belly.

Actually junkie,

Both poste were mine. I forgot to put my name in the second. My apologies

You are a class A jerk.

I don't wear my Buckeye gear to UA games. In my office, I have both OSU, and UA stuff.

Like I said, it is possible to be fans of 2 teams that don't usually compete against each other. It's not like I am a Can't fan, and an Akron fan.

Do I want an award for going to games? No. I was merely stating that I am a Zip fan.

I don't have season tickets, because I don't know if I can go to games until the week of the game because of my schedule.

As for inside information, to me inside information is information that hasn't been shown on every other web site, and talked about on ESPN for the last month.

When someone says they are close to a situation, that is information that isn't out to the public yet. I stated I didn't know inside information, because I don't

I don't understand why you are being so mean, and nasty. I have posted here many times, but never set up an account, because there is so few threads on here I don't post very often.

Believe it, or not, I am as big of a Zip fan as many of you here, just because I am a Buckeye fan also, you attack me.

Wow. I always thought Miami, and Marshall fans were jerks.

It looks like we have a few of our own.

How can anyone who did not go to a school be a fan of the school? This thinking is beyond me because that person has no connection at all with a school like OSU. It just seems kind of phony to me. Tell the truth now BZ, you cheered for OSU four years ago when the Zips played them, didn't you....

I went to UofA and I am proud of graduating from there. Good or bad, I'll keep my season tickets and go sit on the fifty yard line and watch a Division I football game. Good luck doing that in Columbus. I've been to a lot of games there, it isn't that great. Don't get me wrong, I wish OSU no harm (although their off the field problems are becoming funny to watch), but I'll keep my descriptions of my feelings as an interest and not a fan. I'll save being a fan for the Zips.

BZ, throw away your OSU crap and buy some Zips stuff to fill the void. No matter how hard you try, you will never be an OSU person.

Happy New Year Zips fans.

Actually, I went to OSU for 3 semesters, and tranferred back home to UA, and graduated from UA.

When I was a kid, my dad took me to the Acme Zip game every year.

I was at the game when Angeloff died, and remember it like it was yesterday.

It still bothers me when I go to the bowl, and see his name.

I was raised an OSU fan, as UA was DII. UA was almost like a high school team, and OSU was the big college team.

Also, even then OSU was on TV, and UA never was.

For a kid OSU was much easier to follow.

I can't answer any further why I am an OSU fan, I guess it's just a lifetime of being a fan that I just can't turn off.

As for when they played, I did root for the Zips.

My feeling was that OSU is already big time. If UA wins, that will help them get to the big time.

When I go to UA games, there are fans wearing everything else. Notre Dame, Michigan, USC. That is harder to figure out than OSU.

Also, if you ever notice, when the OSU score is announced at the Rubber Bowl, there is alot of cheers for the Buckeyes.

I have a feeling that I am not the only person with this dilemma.

I understand that alot of people aren't OSU fans, but what I don't understand is why so many UA fans hate OSU. Not being a fan is one thing. The hatred is what I don't understand.

How can anyone who did not go to a school be a fan of the school?

Well folks, it looks like GP1 wants me out of here too.

I never took a class at UA, but follow UA hoops more than any other sports team. Moreso even than my 2 alma maters who are much farther upstream in the food chain than UA. We all have reasons for rooting for who we root for .. mine have to do with being at ACME Zip games and the JAR as a kid with my Dad. But just because I didn't attend UA .. I'm a goner.

Listen slugs .. many of us hate certain schools for a variety of reasons (ask me sometime how I know that umASS fans eat their own poo .. ). I am in the camp that views Columbus State as an example of what is wrong with college sports .. so I don't root for them and I give crap to those who do. But they can root for whoever they want to. Being an OSU fan in OH is very different in my mind than the kids down the street that are "die-hard" Bulls fans cause Michael was there .. or Dook because they win a lot.

The fact is, we who reside in NEOH are continuously bombarded with coverage of the big school down I71. So kids are going to grow up Buckeye fans. What gets under my skin is that the local hack papers fail to recognize the presence of major college sports in our own backyard. Unfortunately, until we fill the gyms and the stadiums .. they're not going to pay any attention to the Nation. And if the Nation isn't covered, children (other than those directly in the Nation) aren't going to grow up rooting for their backyard D1 school .. they're going to be fans of the one down the road that the papers and TV stations tell us that we should watch because it's all they're aware of. My gripe is completely with the media on this one .. especially the one a half mile from the JAR.

I lived & studied for a time in Indiana and there is a popular saying in those parts that you might see on bumpers once in a while: "Hoosier by birth. BOILERMAKER by the grace of God." The fact is, it's easy to be a Buckeye fan in this state .. it's what the crowd does. It can be tough to be a Zips fans these days. Our challenge my brother and sister Zips is to bring more people to the enlightened state that life in the Nation provides. We have been entrusted with a great thing .. and like any other gift, it is only as good as the number of people we share it with.

The Nation is a sleeping giant, and KD & JD will continue to help wake it up. And when it wakes up, a new generation of fans will be found that might not be so inclined to root for a team 120 miles away before the one down the street.

You guys (GoZips and GP1) need to chill a little bit. Smack is smack & many of us appreciate a good Columbus State joke, but BZ is a member of the Nation and should be treated as such. We have a forum for smack & jokes ..

To paraphrase the big orange monkey creature:

Zip shall not flame Zip

P.S. Let's not scare the Dude away .. we miss him around here ...

P.P.S. BZ --> register up so you can at least claim your login for your own & we all hope to see you around for a long time.

So are we not supposed to root for a college team from the time we're 7 till the time we're 18? I have a second college team I root for (it's not the Suckeyes) 'cause that is the team I grew up rooting for. I became a Zips fan after I started school.

What does burn me though is the fans who went or currently Go to UA and don't want anything to do with the team. In my book they are just front-runners.

Amen BZ. I couldn't have said it better.

There is a lot of ignorance on the board when it comes to the Buckeyes and reality. In Ohio, there are always going to be a lot of OSU fans - as ZW stated well, the media coverage will make sure of that and winning year after year makes it even easier to ride the bandwagon. Good for them. I'll tell ya, I'm jealous as can be.

So what should Zip fans do ? Antagonize and tell them to go elsewhere ...that would be the most ignorant and stupid thing a Zips fan could do.....look at the potential local fan base we would be passing up ! Why not invite them, discuss the Zips, peak their interests with our own Zips passions - dont be an A-hole. Everyone knows people gravitate to optimism and distance pessimism. The Zips will someday soon offer a good local FB and BB DivI alternative to a two hour drive. So what if you are second fiddle, their money is still green and spends the same. And anyway, Aren't most people second fiddle prior to being first ?

I know this year, I got a number of OSU fans to their first Zips games -- they all said they’d be back -- What's so bad about that with where we are at now ? We need fans, people to come to the bowl and arena. I could give a damn about what they wear to the game, they are in the arena/stadium -- here's a clue -- THAT'S GOOD NATION. If they see a good product on the field, they will be back spending their money and one step closer to being hooked (and THAT SWEATSHIRT, T SHIRT, ZIPPY DOLL, JERSEY..........)

As for rooting for two teams, C’mon, Zipsnation, we are a lot smarter then that -- everyone does it to some extent and it hardly means you are less of a fan. Get a clue.

Zip Pouch,

You are absolutely right.

There is a couple OSU boards that I frequent, and we have great conversations.

Alot of them didn't know much about Akron football. Now some of them actually PM me to talk about the Zips. When Dennis Kennedy came here, alot of OSU fans were wishing him luck, and saying things like if you can't be here, we are glad you are at Akron, and things like that.

I don't understand the hatred. I am a Browns fan. I don't hate the Bengals just because they are in the same state. And they play each other twice a year.

I enjoy good conversations with people that are friendly. Not like that jerk that attacked me earlier.

In order to get decked out in UA gear, you have to be able to find UA gear. I can only find stuff at the on-off campus bookstores when I happen to be in town. I actually had to ask someone in line at the PSU game where I could get a jersey! (online, not indexed by google or yahoo) It all goes back to marketing the team. It is very difficult to promote a team, and develop a consistent fan base if local stores only sell stuff from major conferences. Get the gear into local stores, get local media to cover MAC football so rivalries can develop, and keep building this program. I hate to say it, but UA would benefit by cross-promoting w/ Can't, especially for the "big" game! God knows they could use our help too. This is the biggest D1a game in NEOhio, and our best promotion of the year is through ACME/Click? Remember, Complaint w/out resolution is WHINING!

Wally B,

Do you ever go to goZips.com?

Check out the team shop - there is lots of gear there and in the shop in Rhodes Arena which is open every day.

Acme has not be a partner with either Akron or Can't State since 2001. They made a very public display about leaving college sports and as a result Can't State signed with TOPS and Akron U inked Giant Eagle.

The Akron/Can't State game has drawn over 25K for each of the past two seasons. The departments have been working together very well since Mike Thomas took over as AD.
