  1. I guess one game to turn a program around and completely change both sides of the ball is enough to make an assessment of this coaching staff, I was unaware of that until reading these posts, but yeah I agree and the University should just make the changes now and end this nightmare of a season. I was expecting to go undefeated this year and play Alabama or Ohio State in the national championship, but since we are out of the BCS picture there is no reason to watch. I don't understand how our players have yet to grasp a system that is completely different from what most of them have been doing for years now, and how Coach hasn't brought in enough freshman this year to plug all the holes in this team that was 3-9 last year, to catch passes, block, and win a Championship. I also don't understand how we can only get 15000 people to watch a team picked to finish last in conference, but Can't can sell 16000 to see a team picked as a sleeper by a lot of different publications, a team that also has been picked by many to have the best d in conference this year. I think the majority of fans posting here today have hit it dead on, if only some of you would apply to be the next AD we could solve all the problems overnight, and take Ohio State to the woodshed next year. Go Zips!
  2. When we do go shotgun with Nicely and we all of a sudden become sharp on offense, it makes me worry less about our players. The offense will slowly come together, the sacks are the biggest question I had. I want to see us catch more balls, but don't people like the TE routes straight down the field? Those kind of plays, when we do hit them, are going to open up this offense and take linebackers with them hopefully. Last, the concrete stuff is an eyesore, but when has any project this large not had some problems, it will get taken care of, Im sure the University is not going to keep sections of the stadium closed off forever.
  3. These guys with no shot tonight are down by 1 at the half, after playing without their center for a stretch.
  4. Someone posted the other day in analysis of the season that we needed players that are no role players, that can flat out ball. He can flat out ball, he started bad last night, but they stayed in striking distance with Kansas, I saw him getting tip ins, and wanting the ball on offense. It just sucks to see a local kid taking another team to the tournament.
  5. I'm sure people on here know about it, I'm just wondering after watching a Glen Oak kid take Lehgh to the tournament as a freshman, and averaged 19 points a game. If we did not go after him, that was a mistake, as it could have solved the scoring guard problems the Zips have had, and an offensive player that can play.
  6. Would that have moved Central Michigan up one spot?
  7. If we have to play two weeknight games, one of them should be an away game. Besides that though, with Can't being at Can't this year, it means I can go to 7 games, nice.
  8. I don't think any of them had the excitement that Brookhart had, and fumbled away. He is the one that was getting a new stadium that was best in conference, the University was having to find ways to get tickets to students for the first time, had a veteran team that had played well the year before (especially where I saw them rated dead last by the publication I read) for the most part and took a BCS game participant to the wire, and was favored at home against a Big Ten school. He had an opportunity none of them had, and it is all his fault so he should always lose this argument. Its his fault his team could not punt, or kick a field goal, and its his fault that he chose a QB that ruined any chance of a good season, and lost all of the interest that the program had been receiving by the local media. He set the program back when it was supposed to go forward, and now its up to Coach Ianello to clean this up.
  9. Hoppin Frog is sold at Acme and Giant Eagle.
  10. What about the food service? I know we were told that the concessions would take credit cards as long as they were the permanent concessions. None did all season that I am aware of. This was an inconvenience. Besides that I thought game days were handled really well, even when there were bigger crowds.
  11. I don't think that's punishment, in general you can see college football getting more like MLB when it comes to that money gap with TV contracts and merchandise. Does the level playing field work in the NFL, or do people prefer baseball, where championships are bought by big markets who can spend 300 million on payroll. I just think if the NCAA actually managed FBS, and leveled the playing field by making people play by the same rules, those big schools could still spend their money if they wanted, but luxury would get kicked down to lower programs to help them become truly competitive. What would be better than to see more teams in position to go into a potential tournament with a real chance to pull something off? Would this benefit UA, sure, that's why I would want to see it.
  12. I disagree with a 40 team system, that's not college football. I already have the NFL to watch every Sunday, and the fact that FBS college football is very different is what gives it appeal in general. With 40 teams, you would easily see two 8-4 teams playing for a national title. You also lose one of the things a lot of people love about it, that being the chance that a big school gets knocked off by a MAC or Sun Belt school, or other non BCS team. There are things that need fixed in college, why don't we start smaller instead of changing everything that a lot of people love about the game. 1. Salary cap the coaching staffs or penalize (luxury tax) that university if they choose to ignore.2. Stop the insane boosters, plain and simple, limit the total amounts a school can receive, and beyond that the NCAA should take it.3. Make teams play the same number of games, and quit letting all the powers play 8 home games while a MAC school gets 5. Once again, penalize this if they choose to ignore. 5. Don't let a FBS play a FCS, ever.6. Have the NCAA hire and manage all the officials, can you think of the NFL with an AFC North Officiating crew that is paid by them? 7. Have all your big TV money split up, the NCAA should control those contracts and deals, things like the SEC/Big 10 deals only make the problems with competition worse. *These penalties would either be in scholarships or go into the profit sharing plan. However if a school is actively not trying to compete (like the KC Royals), don't let them collect money. One of the things that makes the NFL great is that it is ONE League, and they all play by the same rules. Colleges should be no different in that
  13. I have not seen the whole South Florida situation, but it seems early to judge what happened, it looked like he did not do anything wrong, but had people try to cover it up anyway probably because he saw what had happened at Kansas, etc. All I know about Leavitt is that he started that program from scratch, and had opportunities to leave to places like Alabama and Miami and chose to stay. In my opinion, someone will get a value when they hire this coach. Guys like him and Randy Edsall are rare, staying at their programs even though we know the offers have been there. In general, Tough but Fair= don't have a problem with it, especially since I have not heard of any of these coaches hitting a player. Would I want this in Akron, sure, our players need their asses kicked after last year, and I hope Coach gives it to them. I don't know how many of you on here criticized our lack of contact last year in camp, or saw the Steelers softest camp in the NFL come back to bite them. I know the Browns got better during the year with the hardest camp in the NFL. Notre Dame was a soft program, I have been reading the Kelly articles about how he plans to break those guys down, with their sense of entitlement that came from the Weis era. However, I know Coach worked for Barry Alvarez also, a team that has had a history of punching more talented teams in the face. I want to see us play someone, be more physical, make them play our game, and go into games knowing they will be hurting that next week.
  14. If we had a kid that was this hard working, doing anything asked of him, why couldn't JD have found a scholarship for him at some point?
