  1. If you didn't like his tenor, were you at least a fan of his baritone or bass?

  2. Hey Kidz, Here is the final Summer Sessions installment. Thursday will be the final S/S "practice". Friday begins the regular season practices with a "burner" scheduled. We have a few walking wounded recovering from various "ouchies". Nothing season ending. All are invited to stop by the Men's Basketball tailgate tent, located at the northwest corner of Infocision. Stop and say "hello" this season's edition of the Zips Come meet the fabulous freshmen and see the power muscled players improved over last season. I think you will like the improvements. Tailgate times are from noon to game time.

  3. +1. Play them like they're the Michigan State Spartans. Don't even look at the Vegas line on this one...pretend we are the underdogs at home. Run the ball, catch every pass, no turnovers, no dumb penalties. Go Zips!

  4. I felt terrible after the Marshall loss, I was really down. I got to talk to one of the players after the game. His attitude was unreal. As he was disappointed with the loss, he was already speaking of the Pitt game, and how excited he was to get back on the field and avenge the "day that nothing went right"...his description. I walked away feeling better, and thinking, is his attitude just an individual thing, or does the staff have that effect on the team? What a great effort they put in Pittsburgh after the messy Marshall game. Is was great to see the players celebrating on Heinz field after the game. Well deserved.

  7. Amazing to think that he was head coach (interim) at Notre Dame after Weis was fired. Makes for a good bar trivia question. The silver lining may be that our AD's present and future won't be allowed to make any more big hires on their own without considerable oversight from a team of university staffers and/or outside consultants.

  8. Coach Bowden deserves all the credit he gets on this forum. I'd just like to see Coach Amato's name mentioned more often. The Zips defense held high-scoring Pitt to just 10 points, which no one in their wildest dreams saw coming. As great an overall job Coach Bowden is doing with the whole team, Coach Amato should get a ton of credit for what he's done with the Zips defense. I hope he plans to continue coaching until he's at least 75.

  9. Actually, Ianello's career at KU ended several months before Weis was canned. The following was published on July 26 in The Wichita Eagle: A few weeks ago jayhawkblog.com published a piece explaining how KU's receivers had suffered under Ianello's coaching with a link (included below) to a more detailed evaluation of what KU's receivers were not being taught: As if Zips fans needed further proof of Ianello's lack of coaching ability, the evidence just keeps pouring in. In the end Ianello couldn't even keep a job with Weis, who holds the #1 position in DJ Gallo's list of the BCS era's 10 Worst Head Coach Hires In College Football (Ianello comes in at #8).

  11. I agree with this. From the moment I heard coach speak, I knew we had us a winner. Lose Big, Lose Small, Win Small, Win Big. Recruiting players who can win whatever it takes, wherever it takes...and bringing in transfers who can fill in while they develop talent. That is the template for building a winner and Bowden and company are bringing us a winner. Enjoy the ride Zips fans, it's going to be a fun year.
